They spent the entire duration of that parade waving hi to strangers who don't know who they are. Most of the audience there weren't Mys, or K-pop fans for that matter. It was bound to be awkward from the start. They knew they'd be judged as foreigners; this was much of the crowd's first exposure to K-pop.
Then, we had the red-clad people on the ground cheerfully dancing along, but this didn't match the song at all. No disrespect to them. They were just doing their job.
I don't think I have to say much about the cold and wind. That's self-explanatory.
Amidst all its glory, "Savage" simply isn't a song the average person would understand and vibe with unless you're already familiar with K-pop. It's a very experimental track. This would be comparable to Drake and Travis Scott performing "Sicko Mode" in front of a crowd of middle-age moms and dads.
This isn't about making up excuses. It's about putting things into perspective. The girls did what they could. They setup was awkward, but that's not their fault. If you think the average American viewer cares much about any of this, nope. We're used to American artists showing up onstage, jumping around to a backing track and letting the crowd sing for them. No real dancing or choreography.
Only K-pop stans put these situations under a microscope. The big picture is that the girls had a good time overseas and had fun.
