I know that there is a history of creeps trying to get to children on there... YouTube has done a terrible job of properly tackling that issue unfortunately.
I feel like it's useless... if it's to protect creators, the creators themselves can already turn off the dislikes.
I don't normally look at dislikes except in the case of tutorials. But that's also a big enough nuisance that it really annoys me to not have that useful tool.
On the German tech website "Netz-Politik" a guy wrote a article on what he thinks of the dislikes going to be deleted, wich was a stupid article cause he wrote in the way as if Youtube bought him to post that... and many people comented their own thoughts under that article and one user wrote that this is a problem with mainly bad politicle parties in the future. Let's say your party is against refugees, calls the climate change a joke and most member of your party are flat-earthers or a Karen,... people in the past would rate your partie's videos let's say 100 likes but 30.000 dislikes since all you preech in your promotional videos was 1) how to not let refugees into the country 2) how women belong into the kitchen 3) how basic human rights are a joke 4) that the global climate crissis was made up by big companies ... it's just fair that this had 30.000 dislikes if all you say is "Vote us and we send refugees back to Syria!" if you get what I mean. And as you can see the trend in some countries, right-winged parties are getting more popular since more and more refugees come to different countries around the world. A Karen or flat-erather or right-winged human would see the likes and not the dislikes and thinks that everyone of the let's say 200.000 people who saw it was thinking the same mindset as the guy who made the political video in wich they spreed all the nonsense, because "I don't see any dislikes so who said them forcing refugees to go back to Syria was a bad idea?"

I watched a German Youtuber who reacted to the video that Youtube put out as statement and he said: "I don't get it... they demonetice you for let's say half a boob is showing trought that a woman wears a low-cut shirt but than again they show ads for games with nearly naked women in it and don't do anything about it. They also try to get creators down who place ads to make money and give all the money to the company who does those shady ads and if you don't want ads Youtube pushes them into a video like 2 in a row and you still don't earn anything from it. And this altho they specifcly wanted to make Youtube more kids-friendly and creator-friendly..."
I forgot at what part exactly the guy said that but he was streaming while recording the video so I think if I remember right it was cause someone in the stream-chat asked something to the video they were reacting to
some people are just too sensitive these days. likes and dislikes go hand-in-hand. if you can’t stomach seeing your video get dislikes, then maybe just don’t put out content for the whole world to see? and what’s with youtube bending to these stupid ideas?? people should be allowed to dislike as much as they are allowed to like videos.

I don't really care. If you need to see what other people thought about a video to be able to decide whether you like it or not or whether you think something is nonsense, YouTube dislikes are the least of your problems.
I do however think they should have gotten rid of both, likes and dislikes.
Youtube's personal channel called "Youtube creators" made a video on that and all they said was "to protect the creators from targeted hate blah blah" and "no they don't do it cause Youtube-Rewiend happend" aaah
