It's actually real, the amount of new groups I'm seeing say they want to become Billboard singers or chart on Billboard is very telling about the shift that happened in the market.

I remember when the PD of produce x 101 mentioned he would want the group to be the next to chart on billboard... And then he ruined the boys careers.

- BTS mocked for wanting to chart on the Billboard Chart and called it chasing Western Validation. Now, Kpoppies are closely monitoring the Billboard Chart whenever there's a comeback.
- BTS working to get a Grammy nomination and being hopeful to win was looked down upon as "begging". Now, Kpoppies jump for joy at the mere mention of Grammy eligibility.

It's becoming more and more common for Kpop artists to hit Billboard charts so it makes sense. Obviously, throw in the amount of success BTS has had over the years - more and more groups are seeing it as a potential reality.
