Which flop is more unexpected : AYA vs MAGO

Mago is such a good catchy song that I genuinely don't get how it didn't become a hit.

I adore Solar and mamamoo is great but Aya wasn't really their strongest thing. I kinda did expect it to not do that great to be honest. Even though their popularity is pretty good, it seemed like a lot of people weren't really into it. Mago I had hoped for it to do a ton better but it didn't.

Some people may disagree with me but personally speaking I was more shocked AYA outright flopped. Mamamoo have mostly done well on the charts and it was their most anticipated comeback since their mega hit Hip and also coming off the back of Hwasa’s viral hit Maria that dominated the summer. Their public recognition at that point was very strong so it should have been able to hold up at least a top 10-20 for a few weeks on the charts but it free falled so fast I really wasn’t expecting that for their standards.

I base this on the fact Zimzalabim was able to chart somewhat decently even though that song was HEAVILY divided by the public but since RV have strong public recognition (similar to Mamamoo) it was able to at least chart top 20 for a few weeks.

As for Mago, the song is good but I had a feeling they wouldn’t be able to chart because by that point the public had already moved on from Gfriend (sad to say but it’s the truth). They also haven’t had a hit since 2018 so no surprise there in terms of their charting. I guess Apple (again another good song) charting horrendously made me not have any expectations.

Aya because Mamamoo has grown so big over the years meanwhile GFriend's popularity started big but fainted over time.

Mago. It’s baffling that it’s not as popular than it actually is

MAGO. It was on trend, the song quality is very good, and GFriend had come off of two comebacks where their sales rose once again.

AYA is a low-grade gogobebe, I'm honestly glad it tanked. I've heard that MMM chose the title track this time, but it was not a good choice.

Aya, MMM had a great year before that song, Hwasa was everywhere and dingga was a good start for that era

Aya because there was still a high expectation and public interest on MMM

When Mago flopped Gfriend had already lost public's interest and good songs with good concepts etc flopping happens literally all the time.
