Do white people(americans) have culture?

  • maybe those who live on a ranch?

would rather say that Canadians from Quebec have culture, still not 100% their own, because it came from France but through the years it will be slowly changing to their own

ps: honestly would say same thing about any other... those who have African or Asian roots as well have culture behind in the countries their ancestors left...

  • White-Europeans still have their culture. I'm not sure about White-Americans since they're colonizers, not natives. It's more like a mix of cultures in colonized countries. It is American culture, but can you consider it inherently white?

  • Are you equating white people and americans?

And yup, everyone has culture, it doesn't mean that all white americans have the same culture, culture doesn't have to be based on race of course. It's usually not.

I mean if we look at it like that, Europeans are also mostly not natives. On every continent migrations and intrusions are happening all the time, so all cultures were 'made' at some point.

" those who have African or Asian roots as well have culture behind in the countries their ancestors left..." can you explain this more?

  • Of course.

Though I would say there's no monolithic "white" culture.

It depends on your location and ethnic and cultural background.

For instance, I live in rural Kansas.

In the area I'm from we have a distinct rural culture with a large Volga German influence. One centered around agriculture, cattle, and wheat, and oil industry. With a traditional value system that shares hallmarks of Western frontier myth and rural tradition.

i'm a little confused by the question can you dumb it down.

No, i'm talking about white people born in america caucasian. What is white culture? " it doesn't mean that all white americans have the same culture" this makes no sense. "culture doesn't have to be based on race of course. It's usually not." culture is based on race and nationality. If white people(caucasians) are born in america they don't have a culture, but since you think they do what is apart of their "culture"?

  • Rodeos, monster trucks rallies. Sorry if I'm stereotyping.

Regarding all Americans, not just white folks:

Foods which are strongly inspired by other cultures like Tex-Mex, California Rolls (a lot of roll style sushi), deep dish pizza. I've never heard food being called cultural appropriation. Are foodies more open-hearted? Except for the case of fermented vegetables. Did I just say that?

    BUz1JbI.jpg

"And they escorted her to a prison cell..."

    J7m1itJm.jpg

  • wouldn't that be heritage not culture?

  • Rodeo, country music, western movies and superhero comics to name a stereotypical few. Not sure where this narrative ("American white people have no culture") comes from but it's ridiculous to the utmost degree.

    black people created country music

western movies is american movies(not yt culture)

how does rodeo Cultural means relating to a PARTICULAR society and its ideas, customs, and art. is doing rodeo culture appropriation?

Actually you're the one that's not making sense. ;-) Please read again what I wrote. I believe you can not simplify the culture of US and divide it based on races. Thus I do believe white Americans have their own cultures, but I wouldn't name it 'white culture'.

Why doesn't it make sense that all white americans don't have the same culture? Do you even know what culture means?

Culture (/ˈkʌlər/) is an umbrella term which encompasses the social behavior and normsfound in human societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of the individuals in these groups.

I'm not American, but I do know there is a mix of different cultures there and every group has it's own. What I'm saying is, that from what I know US is big and it's culture is not necessarily based on race. There are a lot of cultures based on mix of ethnicities, races and a lot of other different factors.

  • black people created country music

    No they didn't. That's just a lie.

western movies is american movies(not yt culture)

Last time I checked, western movies were BY FAR a white man's thing. White people behind the camera, white people in front of the camera, white people in the audience. The Wild West, the Frontier and their myths are something carried out and perpetuated by white people. Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy, Jesse James... all white men.

So I agree it is American culture but because you're the one who wants to put a color label on everything then it's safe to say that the Frontier myth and the western movies that are derived from it are white culture.

  • i wasn't dividing anything in my opinion yt ppl have no culture america AMERICANS do tho. because yt americans don't have a culture and IF they do can you tell me what is is? Culture-the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group. I though culture was based on race and/or nationality but what other factors do u think?

Then black American people have no culture either. Problem solved. You're all American, you all eat the same junk food and watch the same stupid ass movies. Rejoice!

I don't think culture is always based on race. If a community exists for a while, it will naturally form its own culture. You could even say AKP has a culture of its own. There are certain inside jokes that are funny to us, but don't mean anything to the rest of the world, for instance.

Black people in the United States often have their own culture and that just comes from living in certain communities for a while. It's certainly not going to be the same as the culture of Africans in Africa. Likewise, white people in the United States have their own culture and that just comes from living in certain places. Of course, it's not always the same because different regions have a distinct lifestyle.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com…k-th-century-slave-ships/

Dina Bennett, senior curator at the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, said country music can trace its roots back to 17th-century slave ships, where captors made Africans bring instruments from their homeland.Aug 2, 2019

Again, western movies isn't yt culture it is american culture y do you think because a white person directed it it is yalls "culture" and yea it was the white man thing to direct movies because also of the white man segregation and slavery was going on so it was illegal thats dont mean its apart of white culture, that's like me saying black people created the stop sign its black culture when really its black history and so us western movies(white history) you sound dumb...

  • At the end of the day, humans are social creatures. No matter what race you are, if you socialize within a community long enough, a culture will emerge and you will adapt to it. I feel like Americans are overly obsessed with race and forget that we're just human beings at the end of the day. We're not species from a different planet.

technically we are and i'm confused...

What you said makes no sense to me and I apologize if I don't understand you correctly, but based on what you said no one in America has culture.

(edit: I don't know what's yt, youtube? English is not my first or second language btw)

Race and nationality can be part of culture, but it's not something culture is based on.

Culture does include race and nationality, but it goes way beyond that. It's belief systems, values, behaviour. Cultural identity can also be based on gender, sexual orientation, social class.

That's a complex topic, especially when it comes to US, since it's a huge country, mix of people that came from a lot of different parts of the world, not that long ago (compared to most other countries or continents).

Ignore race for a second. Race makes everything unnecessarily complicated.

At the end of the day, culture exists naturally through socialization. British people (both black and white) have their own culture. American people (both black and white) have their own culture. French people (both black and white) have their own culture. These cultures are different from each other. You could be the same color as someone else, but have a completely different lifestyle, culture, hobbies, and interests.
