Pretty sure one of them, presumably RM, said this in 2020 about "Dynamite":
"[We] decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible. Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans."
I just see these recent all-English songs as a fun, positive new way for them to spark joy for the world during rough times. They'll likely continue to release songs that are distinctively BTS, as they've done with the Be album.
I think the entire industry is changing and trying to appeal to the West. It's not just any one particular group that's doing it. I'm a bit nervous about that, but you can't blame any one group for it.
Go on, post the whole thing. Look at what's they said carefully. "If we don't get a number one or number five, it's okay."

When they released dynamite, they had already cracked the top5 with ON at #4, which a lot of people try to ignore btw. And it was pretty much obvious that their next release, be it in English or Korean, was gonna go #1.
It just happened to be in English and that's fine. They went #1 on hot100 with Life Goes On, a Korean song in less than 4 months later anyways.
