So instead of giving us an original Black DC Superhero…. WB just decided to race swap Superman and turn him black…

Well there is a black Superman with his own origin story but it doesn’t look like WB is doing that lol but they are making a Static Shock movie which I’m super hyped for!

I grew up watching the show on Cartoon Network. Their also making Blue Beetle, Madame Xandau then Jessica Cruz in the HBO Max Green Lantern series all POC superheroes.

Yeah, I don't understand why Hollywood keeps going down this road. They need to stop piggybacking off of established characters and just create new ones if they think there is a market for a black, Asian, etc, super hero. Like you said, why not just make a Green Lantern movie with the John Stewart character. That'd be awesome. A new Spawn film would be great.

As a fan, that doesn't really bother me.

What bothers me is the fact that DC is still centering it's universe over characters from the fucking forties when most of them are boring and one dimensional.

I wanna see movies about Nightwing, Cassandra Cain, Oracle, Red Hood (and the fact that DC didn't make a movie about him after Deadpool is a fucking crime), Starfire, Arsenal, Bumblebee, Cyborg and Damian's Robin. Real people with complexes and complicated stories. Relatable characters

White, Black or Alien, the point is, the Native Americans that lived on the land before the imports are being totally ignored :P

Is it really confirmed that black superman is just a black Clark Kent we all know rather than an individual from another universe. I think there is a black Superman and he's like a president or something (I guess he's based on Obama).

Peter Parker and Miles Morales shows how to do it properly. Both are Spider-Men and both are their own fleshed out characteristics and backstory rather than simply race swapped heroes. DC also have a freaking multiverse of non white characters they can use, including the "same" character so it shouldn't be hard at all to have new heroes. I mean DC has already done more multiverse stuff than Marvel through their CW shows so it's not a new thing that fans won't understand

I've heard about Static Shock. I am surprised they haven't done anything new with Green Lantern in terms of animation. I hope they wised up and hired some DC comic nerds like Marvel. It would be great if all the new DC movies show up with top-notch quality.

The same origin story huh. Hollywood are now just doing movies that match a checklist (same thing is happening whthere snow white) rather than actually coming up with good stories.

It also mentions that since he's an alien his raceshouldnt matter, that opens up a whole nother can of worms. Alright then why specifically a black superman, Why can't he a another race if it's all fair game? Why not a South Asian superman? Why not an Arab superman man? Why not a mixed race superman?

Smh... I give up on DC sometimes honestly.

If race isn’t the propelling factor of a character I don’t mind it.

Superman doesn’t have a specific ancestry like say Eastern European or something. He’s an alien. There is nothing intrinsically “white” about him. So I find it ok.
