What is up with this mandate by the Korean embassy on performing BTS songs?

NO BTS, NO K-POP festival.

I read it's applicable to a lot of countries.

That is what you call impact. A nation's group with nation's discography

They are definitely aware of who’s leading the Hallyu wave

BTS is one of their biggest soft power

I wonder about the reason too

A new proof that BTS status is absolutely unique though.

this is me overreacting: It's giving me vibes like you can only sing the songs of the bearer of the Order of Cultural merit, our country's legends.

I mean….. it’s just some king shit really…. They are probably aware of the relevance BTS has and maybe the judges/embassy really want to see a BTS song being performed

And the participants won't fall in shortage of songs in case of covering BTS's song. They have huge quality with quantity discovery. Even Bsides are cheff kiss.

I love the sassy Yoongi sig you have !!! Its so apt for anti's .

I know participants have so many songs to choose from . Few days back, When i joined the streaming party of BTSChartsdata on stationhead , the admin was playing bts songs for 12 hours and songs were not repeated for the whole time i was on the app. ( I was not there for 12 hours )

The thing will be more epic when after choosing BTS's song on BTS catagory, the participant will choose again BTS's song on the left general catagory.

Like Dynamite & Idol or Butter & Fake love.. The list just goes on.

Okay so this is like audition and the winner will perform at the festival itself.

BTS are compulsory probably to not make the ones who attend feel too unfamiliar (Also probably the same reason for selecting one of 'Butter' or 'Dynamite' specifically in some countries). Since we all know BTS are the most known in every country possible.

Great stuff honestly. This will only help in expanding their country's culture.

It's all about soft power and BTS can provide that for South Korea to the extent that no other groups can.

South Korea's government has pumped in billions into K entertainment for this very reason.

One can argue K-Ent is propoganda.
