Hmmm Korean popularity also isn’t the only metric for success either. For example I would argue any big third gen successful group is more impactful than snsd because of their bigger international popularity.

It’s a bit hard to compare between generation IMO accurately.

Quantitative tiers of kpop groups (+quantity vs quality)

Quantitative ranking of kpop groups tiers. I included most of big 2nd gen to 4th gen groups (the ones who have sold 1+ million, have any KMAs or are in top 20 Korean artists on Spotify).

The ranking is based on equally weighted physicals and digitals (50% Korean, 50% Youtube+Spotify).

Tiers are based on clustering of final ranking index.

I disagree. For example even rookies in 3 and 4th gen are bigger than some of the the biggest 2nd gen acts in many metrics.

Kpop is a genre that grew too much. I think from here on out we can compare. Because kpop is at the zenith of its popularity IMO. But there’s no way to compare 2nd and 1st gen popularity with how much kpop has grown internationally. We can maybe compare in some markets like Korea, Japan and China but definitely not overall impact or popularity.

It is about a group that dominates most metrics at least. A group that happens to be in top 5 of most rankings compared to a group that happens to top only one rank, obviously the group with more metrics is more impactful

All I and everyone should know is EXO is 2nd and that ain't changing anytime soon.

If we do the ranking just base on total sales it will be like this:

8. SUPER JUNIOR

And we all know that ranking is off if we use it to determinate top groups.

General public reception is irrelevant. GP have attention span of a gnat, nobody remembers you after a few years and they wont be streaming your songs five years later.

Fans will be waiting for you, sometimes for decades like SUJU fans and BSB fans.

Albums are most important metric for "impact".
