For the older fans who got to witness Girls' Generation and 2NE1 entire career; what was it like stanning for SNSD & 2NE1?

I didn’t stan Girls Generation but I did 2NE1. I was only a fan from 2011 but don’t remember the fanwars. Imo it’s worse now.

Blackjack here, the funniest moment for me was watching SONEs vs Blackjacks fanwar when 4minute unexpectedly won over the other two on inkigayo

There was more continuous fighting pretty much all through both groups careers but the main difference compared to now was that back then overall it was much much more jokey and trash talking instead of the hate and vitriol nowadays.

Sone V Bj used to rely on memes to shit on each other. It was actually entertaining and kinda fun especially with creative ways ssome used (making YouTube videos, making shitty GIFs etc).. These days it's extremely toxic and even dangerous: fake rumours passed off as fact, cancel culture, death threats, doxing, bullying and so on.

I remember everything specially when YG moved 2NE1 comeback more than 1 time to go against SNSD specially in the Mr. Mr era when the MV data was lost and then YG made an statement saying 2NE1 comeback will be delayed :-D

Yeah... it was very "iconic" to see people bashing groups and constantly posting the same old pre-debut photos to belittle idols.

I stanned both. The fanwars I remember being petty af but insane. I just kinda stayed quiet during arguments.

honestly I dare say the fans were worse. At least nowadays it's pretty common to be a Once and a Blink. Back then you chose 2NE1 or SNSD, not many people were both.

tbh I was either one or the other and I switched between who I rooted for, but I never disliked either group. Then I stopped caring about the fanware but of course 2NE1 went on indefinite hiatus. Now they're both my favorite girl groups of all time.

My brother was a hardcore SONE though and he hated 2NE1 for years.

I don't think SNSD and 2NE1 are much worse than SNSD get black ocean by ELFs. Today fan wars look much worse because of IT advancement if an older generation has that easy access to the internet I'm pretty sure it also the same.

That particular SNSD v 2ne1 moment was probably the most "heated" it got because everyone and their mum knew YG was using SNSD to build hype and obviously it would be them head to head for the first time. For the first time the was a some actual animosity going around because both fans wanted their faves to win on shows so everyone thought things will get a too serious this time...

Then that infamous 4 minute win out of nowhere became the highlight and both Sone and BJ had a good laugh about it lol.

Then the fan war ended because both groups had a shitty 2014

Yup, I got into a lot of fights with blackjacks and sones back in the day, and i'd do it all over again! Those fights and the insults people would come up with... iconic.
