Obviously the songs (soft ballad type, from what others tell me) were made for public preferences. Yet her title is completely out of the MelOn 100 chart.
Reveluvs showed their support big time to Wendy by buying 120K albums and searching her name on MelOn but that was expected.
The question is, why wasn’t the public receptive to Wendy? I though they liked her vocals and were into boring ballads
What, IDK I thought it was nice. This is a surprise.
1) She isnt the most popular in Red Velvet
2) Even Red velvet's songs are not guaranteed hits. Much lesser for a solo song
3) No hype surrounding her debut. SM didnt do a great job promoting her honestly. She was gone for more than a year and yet i dont feel the hype
The chart is full at the moment, esp with Rollin and Lilac doing absolutely great. Her ballad was so lovely but it is what it is. Wendy is also a new entry as a solo artist. It will take some time (and not to mention effort by SM esp wrt to promotions) for her to become more established. one of the most well known ballad queens Davichi made a comeback too recently and their song is doing well.
Also since a previous comment mentioned Taeyeon, the visuals of LIKE WATER are oddly reminiscent of
Tae's debut song "I", and that was a powerful ballad with a mix of rap thrown in, compared to the soft ballad by Wendy. they are quite similar otherwise.
I found it absolutely lovely so it's their loss

Summer is coming in korea, and you can see by the top 10 on melon that they don't want to really listen to ballad song with Dynamity, Rollin, lilac etc.....
I don't understand SM habits of releasing songs who doesn't fit the seasons

I think it's a beautiful and well done EP. My wife bought me the case edition and photo book edition. The entire package is breathtaking and just adorable. Her voice is gold. Definitely not a chart topping type of release though. Glad she's okay. 20210508_230236~2.jpg
