I think a few of them left way before the line up was finalised and whilst they're all pretty their talent probably didn't match up and aren't some of them actresses now
the rest were 1 inch of becoming Aespa members
they were part of the final lineup since they are the members who used to train with the ex-Sm rookies
and ex sm trainee said that the Smrookies and the other trainees who were ready to debut in the lineup weren't train with the other Sm trainee
which mean jungmin etc... were part in the lineup
and they didn't gave up because of their skills because based on their vocals and dance they had the skills
they mostly left because they were tired of waiting for a debut
and Jungyeon did her transition into acting

they mostly choose giselle not base on her singing skills
because if we are honest aespa didn't need more singer, since they already had winter, karina and ningning
aespa needs more another main dancer or rapper
and giselle audition as a rapper so she had this advantage if the decision was between giselle and hina at the end

I think those are people that left before 2019, I'm assuming around 2019 is when they all knew about aespa and the concept, I know by late 2019 to early 2020 alot of them left such as Lami. I think by then the line up was being chosen and those who weren't picked got told to leave, cause their next group would be another six years or so and ain't no one got time for that
I think final member chosen was defo Giselle and it's why Hina left last, they needed a rapper and the fact she was a singer and spoke English was a huge opportunity, but Hina was just a dancer and only spoke Japanese and Korean.

i think the fact that their debut keep being push back , because they were first rumor to debut in 2019 but SM push back their debut once again
and the AI concept was the 2 criteria who made a lot of girl give up or get cut down

if it was based on how they were chosen Ningning would be the first one
she was the only SM rookies, so her place in the final lineup was already saved
then karina would have been the second one, since she appear in 2018 in taemin MV, meaning that she was about to debut and SM wanted to build some hype around her
then Winter since she was never promoted so her place in the lineup was never securized
and finally giselle

I think you are wrong in this part. Actually not only a great dancer Hina also pretty good singer (all -rounder). It proven she was also chosen to sing in Shining Star animation and took part in Mickey Mouse Club (Sm rookies project) few years back.
Yes, agree with you SM choose Giselle because SM need a rapper and Giselle is the one + speaks english. Singing and dancing already covered by the other 3. That's why I think Hina is ambiguous in this line up.

Really? I heard all Hina's shining star vocals and her Mickey Mouse club projects with Lami and Koeun, and if I'm being honest only Koeun could really sing, Hina was average compared to the aespa girls and Lame was just pretty, she couldn't sing at all
