just wondering
just wondering
Reason being is, as I've stated before, 5th Gen has come too early, as 4th Gen is still peaking (though is showing signs of slowing down...). 5th Gen should've started in a couple of years time, possibly even next year.
Not with that concept.
You could say that there have been TWO 4th Gen waves. The pre-Covid one, and the post-Covid one. Covid messed up 4th Gen, so it managed to take off again after Covid died down, with new groups emerging. Due to that, it left no room for 5th Gen.
In a sense, a delayed reaction by fans of K-pop due to it. Leaving 5th Gen as collateral due to it.
Too soon to say! imo aespa have reached/earned their legendary title ![]()
H2H have all the potential and are from the same company so will get all the support but honestly no 5th gen group is doing anything outstanding.
Although H2H are off to a great start especially compared to aespa’s debut and first comeback! I guess anything is possible! I think they’ll reach the success of anywhere from Red Velvet to aespa!
From my own personal observation H2H have received an overall better reception than aespa did at their debut year. In fact H2H are getting a lot of support which is quite unusual for SM gg during their first year ![]()
They have the potential
Thing is they will always be a top 5 group of their generation.
It just feels like they won't or any 5th gen group will not be able to do so because the whole generation as a whole is being overshadowed by 4th gen groups still
And most specifically Day6 because Day6 is overshadowing the entire industry making everyone look like nugus

I agree it probably is still too early, but I am asking because I actually think among the big sister/little sister groups, H2H has the most potential to reach the same level as their big sister. Like, we can pretty much say with certainty: Baemon will never be as big as BP, Nmixx will never be as big as Twice, Illit will never be as big as NewJeans, but I think H2h has a good chance. Also Ian will be bigger than Karina
lowkey no offense but not with this line up
there are at least 2/3 filler members which i wont name that are dragging the team down. mostly because they don't bring much to the table yet take too much place.
carmen and stella have so much potential tho
and ian looks cute so idk, i don't think they'll flop either.

H2H debuted 6 months ago ? At that time Aespa had NLeven BM did fine and heading to savage era so rn H2H is far away from Aespa.

Lol. K-Pop newbies are funny. There was a time where it seemed laughable that aespa would ever be as big as Red Velvet; now look at them.
And today this question is being asked. Give it time.
Was there? In my opinion, aespa proved they could be bigger than Red Velvet in their first year already, when they released a national hit that took 3 years for Red Velvet to achieve, their first PAK that took 4 years for Red Velvet, and surpassed Red Velvet's best selling album with their first EP back in 2021.

Yep. Aespa always had a bigger fandom than RV so everyone knew they were going to surpass them
And most specifically Day6 because Day6 is overshadowing the entire industry making everyone look like nugus

Hybe should pay you to write articles for biased coverage 😏😏 The amount of times you inject Dreamy6 into a thread is astounding 🤭🤭

Black Mamba was a digital flop, and K-Pop fans thought their kwangya concept was corny. And back then people wondered if 4th generation groups would ever truly establish themselves, including aespa.
I was one of the ones who looked down on them, so I know.
H2H is still VERY early into their careers, and The Chase performed much better digitally than Black Mamba.

BM ended with +250M digital points so for a rookie group with a controversial debut it did more than okay.
Style is basically a mid sized hit and doesn’t even come close to NL. Aespa was basically the biggest GG of 2021 H2H is being compared to KiiKii be serious.
5th gen is like Dragon Ball GT
In Korea, they have the potential to be just as big, if not bigger. But outside of Korea, no. Not even close to aespa. That said, it's not like aespa had any real success internationally either outside of a few songs. So idk, maybe they can with the right songs or maybe they won't.
I would say give it 1-2 years and wait until they grow up a bit. They give off too much kiddo vibes rn and that is a turn-off for a lot of ppl, myself included. I haven't listened to any of their songs.
LMAO that's a funny joke. Aespa were never the biggest anything until 2024, when the actual biggest girl group went on hiatus.
BM did okay. Cool story. Did it chart better than The Chase? No, it didn't.
The obvious point here is that it's way too early to predict H2H can't get as big as aespa. Use your brain.
Call me crazy, but musically speaking H2H had a better start than Aespa. The Chase is a better debut song than Black Mamba and I think Style was better too. I think Aespa debut seems more interesting because the concept was out there, and H2H went with a more simplistic and safe concept. I am just curious if H2H comeback will be their "Next Level" moment or will it happen a bit later for them.
Where's maybe?
There's always a chance. Depends on music and concept. I think they have all the ingredients to blow up.
I think in the west maybe not due to their concept, but they could make up for it across Asia, especially if China opens up. Or if they evolve their concept. Think SNSD's Run Devil Run, The Boys eras.
The landscape of kpop could change too in the coming years.
I think in the west maybe not due to their concept,
Are we really going to pretend aespa has set a high bar to clear for success in the West?

I agree aespa was more pushed. I don't think Red Velvet was meant to be SM's flagship girlgroup in 3rd generation. I think they were meant to be a f(x) type of group that ended up being bigger than expected and they probably gave up to debut the next girlgroup earlier, so they started pushing Red Velvet a bit more, domestically, during 2017-2019.
At least It was my impression.

If people thought Black Mamba's digital performance/concept and public's reception was a certification of the failure of their entire career, then they don't know much about Red Velvet's rookie year and most of SM's groups to have such opinion, to be honest. Cause they went through the same and It didn't hold them back to the opportunity of hitting big. Actually, aespa's growth was faster than many of them. There wasn't even enough time for me to expect the worse.
Higher than the ground floor doesn't mean you you ascended to a lofty height.
H2H can eventually tour here, make appearances on GMA and perform at music festivals. Twice has done it, so why can't they?

lol I need to log out
this is both amazing for my H2H side but triggering for my Aespa side ![]()
One thing’s for sure aespa will have a long lasting career and great solo careers!

Agreed! I see H2H doing really well in Korea and Sea! I mean they already are in most Sea countries
but I doubt they’ll do better than aespa in the west or globally! In general Kpop peaked globally imo.
Never say never but it’s just my thoughts for now ![]()
I doubt it
Like I said, maybe, but I doubt it, due to their concept.

but i feel like post newjeans, sm also changed their strategy... they used to drop the debut song and let the group marinate a bit in their debut year/months before strating to really push them on their 2nd or 3rd comback. but it felt like they were already pushing h2h from the get go.
if we compare to rv, it's like they compacted 2014/2015 toghether, and now this october release is suppose to be equivalent to dumb dumb.
for example look at sm ggs debut songs and follow ups:
rv: happiness / be natural
aespa: black mamba / forever
h2h: the chase / butterflies
follow up songs that are meant to be hit songs:
rv: ice cream cake
aespa: next level
h2h: style

i honestly think that Style was supposed to be their break out song, like IceCream Cake and Next Level. Maybe not necessarily as huge as NL but still, a top 3/5 melon topper song.
and honestly? they failed at doing so. i think they barely cracked the top 20?
plus i feel like this time around, each songs h2h are dropping is meant to be a break out song for them specially starting from Style.
