Now that Kpop Demon Hunters is bigger than BTS where does kpop go from here?

I mean... I wouldn't go that far. Clearly the movie was successful because most kpop fans tuned in with the addition of parts of the general public. Only BTS fans + parts of the general public would listen to BTS releases, therefore, with my elementary mathematical skills... KPDH would naturally have those insane numbers because more people would pay attention to a generalized, easy-to-digest movie about a fictional kpop group.

They are definitely bigger than BTS at least in the present, people i can't even imagine listening to kpop or those kind of songs have been listening to golden and people who wouldn't even watch things like that are watching, reactors are reacting to it just because of how much demand there is for it, a lot more of the general public are into KDH than BTS

I meant moreso that it's a bit much to say that kpop is at the end of the road lol. Also, KPDH is a movie... not an actual group. The metrics are completely different... especially because these are two different industries we're talking about. Movie/animation industry vs kpop industry. Yes, KPDH bleeds into the kpop industry a bit, but it's still just a movie. Not an actual kpop group...

I think we have to stop comparing achievements of KDH to idol groups. I don't remember people saying is Elsa bigger than popular pop act at the time because Let it Go was dominating the charts. The audience for a film can reach much more people than your typical artist.

I don't think it's fair to compare BTS to KDH because outside of kpop fans kpop music is very niche. It's not like BTS is Taylor Swift level across the globe , so of course they won't be able to reach the same audiences.

I don't think Huntrix/KDH can replicate the success of their songs without a film attached to it. If they wee to create a group, I doubt half the listeners would follow if there wasn't a film or tv series attached to it. I do think some chart accounts are farming engagement by labeling KDH as a group or even a kpop group.

You could've given your trash opinions on the current kpop climate without being obscene.

The main problem kpop will have is that it have become a bit too mainstream, there is not much left of the old quirky but fun kpop in todays groups and songs. It's not nothing novel about kpop anymore, kpop have been a global thing for over a decade and nothing is hot and trending forever.

Golden and other songs from KPDH are soundtrack from animated family film sang by fictional groups. The film is one of the most watched films on netflix ever, it's not surprising songs are popular. You cannot compare it with actual groups. Idina menzel didn't get more popular than most popular artists, Let it go was that got viral. People don't know who are the artists that sing them, they know only animated characters. You just cannot compare them.
