AKP spent all last month trying to convince me MelOn is irrelevant because of the rise of YTM.

Meanwhile I've known NewJeans has been just as dominant there the entire time, if not moreso. I just personally still value MelOn above it.

Charts aren't evil. People are.

Charts are necessary, because performance and success has to be quantified in some way, given the high barrier to entry and investment cost of debuting an idol group.

My all time favorite group would have disbanded if they didn't score a hit song finally. Many less fortunate groups have.

I think Youtube and Spotify should be the only charts that matter for Kpop eventually. Both are owned by huge third parties outside of the Korean entertainment influence.

That's why you see Allday killing it in Korea but making zero waves elsewhere.

I would count Billboard but i suspect they're too easily bought off. Kakao literally announced a huge payola deal with Billboard like two months before Aespa won their first Billboard Award and now Dirty Work is coincidentally gonna chart in the Hot 100 giving Aespa their first one in their entire career.
