You're half right, but some of these are bigger than big 4 company idols lol. Literally Sejeong and Chaeyeon are massive and Kim Minju is decently popular amongst young Kpop fans as well (maybe hasn't reached the real general public yet)

Sejeong is so gifted though, her vocals were one of if not the best on Produce 101. She could totally have gone the IU path and instead of only acting and the occasional OST. Chaeyeon and Minju under Big 4 could've been the top idols in kpop like Irene. Chaeyeon started ending fairy in kpop and could've grown so much more as an idol.

Any MAMAMOO member and the group itself would be the biggest, probably with a backing of an agency like YG or JYP, but not sure about the creative freedom. That's the downside of BIG4 agencies.

I agree about Sejeong's potential.

But given that no one, not even the Big 4 have done another IU yet, I doubt it could have happened to Sejeong either.

IU is strange phenomenon that happened just before the industry perfected the 'group' strategy. That 'timing' will not occur again.

All soloists will either come from TV programs or be "SolUnits", subunit of 1 member from groups leveraging group fandom.

But I give credit to Sejeong, she is one of the few idols like IU, who don't give up on music once they find success in acting.

Sejeong does more than the occasional OST, she released a full studio album "Door" in late 2023.
