Anyway, I'm not gonna talk about 50 groups, so I'm gonna chose just one, and probably the most underrated, and the best female ACE of Kpop!
Wheein, the backbone of MAMAMOO, the woman who can do anything, literally! Okay, maybe she can't fly.😂
Vocalist with a wide range and as Jungkey said: "She has a voice that can transcend time and space."! One of the best female dancer, a rapper, a real genius (not kidding), a real artist in every possible way, the funniest pup on Earth, you need to run if she's not shy around you, because she's a savage like no one else!🤣 And she's the cutest puppy in this universe!

I'm not sure that's the case. JYP shows an obvious preference for Nayeon now, but this didn't start to happen until several years after they debuted. She wasn't always the most popular member either. If we're talking most important, that could still be multiple members, particularly at different points in time. Right now it's probably either Nayeon or Jihyo.
The most important member of my other favorite group, RV, is either Irene or Seulgi. Irene for the popularity & leadership role, Seulgi for basically everything else. She's the engine of the group.

She's the center of attention in so many of TWICE's early promo. Most groups have a "tone setting" member. The one who is always generally the flag ship example member who "showcases" the ethos of the group in its appearance, manner, aesthetic, performance, etc. Often this member feels like the "company pick". In my opinion, that's always been Nayeon since the beginning. She's the keystone to TWICE foundation.

She's always been the center, but she wasn't as prominent as she is now. They did a better job of putting some spotlight on the other members back then, especially Tzuyu, as she was initially the most popular, and then Sana, after she went viral. Now it's all Nayeon all the time.

I don't see it as just about popularity.
Hell my bias is Tzuyu. Tzuyu and Sana had periods where their popularity was leveraged and they were for periods the most popular. But I don't see that as quite 1 and 1 with "most important".
In the group makeup, if I was designing a group like TWICE from the ground up. Nayeon would be my first ingredient.
And I believe JYP had that mindset.
