Now do you think YGE really held BP back?

  • Did YGE hold BP back? 29

    1. Yes (20) 69%
    2. No (9) 31%

I know all the privileges BP had debuting under yge, this isn't about it.

I'm saying: 3/4 will release full album with +12 songs in so little time after getting out of yge and even Jisoo who was/is so busy with her acting career managed to record and will release 2 songs (I think it's 2) and now looking back at all the years the pinks cleared said how they wanted to release more songs, begged on tv asking YGE to let them work more, etc, isn't it pretty obvious how yge was holding them back music wise?

The excuse was that they didn't care about music, it wasn't their passion, they were here just for the quick success, but can this really be said now? I'm honestly surprised they will release so many songs in so little time, I thought it was maximum some nice mini, but welp, 12 songs, 15 songs, being heavily involved in everything from writing, producing, concept, like everything... I know so many also said the girls were clearly ok with how things were done by YGE... I guess they weren't... Anyways!!

My opinion is like this since 2017: YGE held them back, they were surprised by their instant success and idk why, but despite having the best results ever in that company they had 0 efforts towards their careers hence why they didn't renew solo wise.

Vote and be respectful if you will say something, thanks!

  • I actually don't think they had that much privilege other than debuting under YG but after that their achievements reflected on them appealing to the public, catchy music and their star quality. But yes YG held them back. I'm of the opinion that YG didn't want blackpink to be bigger than the YG's brand so he was more controlling of them

Now about the topic, you can tell how much the pinks wanted to release music. it's funny bc many people questioned their passion for music or not wanting to be idols anymore. It's easy to see now that they are managing their solo careers under different management how much involved they are musically speaking, and how much they want to explore different things related to music.

I'm surprised because Jisoo mentioned she has many songs ready to be released and to put on an album but I guess she will focusing on promoting her acting projects. I don't know

Big3 privilege is essentially debut year imo, after if you don't have enough charm and star quality I doubt fans would still follow so in Ddu4 was the year where the privilege didn't became necessary imo seeing how they grew so much and ww while yge acts were always more liked, since debut BP was ahead of even their senior acts so let's say that while yge helped them in sk, ww it was 70% on them and their concept.

But yeah, yge always restrained their female acts if compared to the male ones so I guess there is no point denying it. I'm just glad the girls were discontent with YGE managing their solo careers and took action by not renewing.

Btw about Jisoo, I think she can release a mini before BP cb, I just think she doesn't want to clash that much with the others girls, let's wait, maybe we'll have a surprise by end April, early May.

  • yeah I think their privilege is mostly debuting under the big 3 ( that's an advantage obviously) but imo ended after whistle/ bby and playing with fire in 2016. It's noticeable to see almost a year (after )debut they didn't release much content or music and they still managed to blow up later on. That's where all began to them imo . they were the first kpop group to debut on Global Spotify Weekly Chart in 2017 with 'As If It's Your Last. That was a big achievement back then.

Later, we found out that girls were started to give inputs in their concepts as they mentioned on behind the scenes etc so for me plays a part in their success too.

Yeah maybe you are right about Jisoo or she can release her mini album after bp's comeback or towards the end of the year.

  • Those girls had been begging for more music since AIIYL, I never understood how people recognized the management issues with every YG group but Blackpink.

The problem was always clear and it was never their fault. I'm just grateful the mismanagement didn't kill their passion for music or Blackpink

Loudeeeeeer and the answer is obvious!

Yep, tbh seeing how all these idols who clearly show public dissatisfaction towards their company, but renewing and then looking at the supposed "lazy girls" not renewing, yeah, my girls don't take fans for granted!

Yeah maybe you are right about Jisoo or she can release her mini album after bp's comeback or towards the end of the year.

Yep, it's a great advantage, but we can also look at any other YGE group and just 2 were huge (BB and BP), 1 being big (2ne1) and the others being just ok in comparison so the charm, star quality, etc definitely plays a big hand in all of this.

Yep, as I said in another thread she is super smart in releasing her song alongside her series, but maybe she'll wait to end her acting promo to release something more and actually promote her music as she couldn't do much during Flower era.

  • For me, it was obvious since the 1st year. I mean, YG only released 5 songs in 2 years. That says enough. 2NE1 had more than 15 in 1 year.

Their fans and some people always said: "Oh, quality over quantity.", but that just BS. If we look at their songs without any bias, 90% of their discography is not even average. Teddy literally copied and pasted the same songs with different lyrics. Most of their songs are just loud noise. That's the YG style, but with BP it was more irritating, because they didn't have the talent of BB or 2NE1 that carried the songs. Sorry, not sorry.

I said this already, but I think the fact YG don't do this with Babymon, tells you everything you need to know. I'm almost 100% sure that at the beginning, the girls, or at least 3 of them (Lisa, Jisoo and Jennie) didn't really want to get involved in the making of their music, or they weren't as good, and Yang thought, who cares, let's move on, make them popular as hell if we can, and the rest doesn't matter. Technically, he was right. Without Yang's idiotic plan, they wouldn't be half as popular as now.

Now that they left YG, they need to do better, and they are not kids anymore, so they have to learn how to make music, because their popularity won't take them further. Even tho I didn't like any song that Lisa or Jennie released since they left, they still have credit on their name, and let's see if Jennie actually has a 100% self-written and composed song on her album, because that's a big step-up. Even if it's trash.

As for Rose, I still didn't have time to listen to her album, but she has writing credits on all of her songs.
