Now do you think YGE really held BP back?

  • And when did I say something about their it girls status? I'm talking mainly about their music career. The others gigs were great and could be done even if they released 2 minis each year, YGE just didn't try with them music wise, but I'm glad they are now doing what they want!

The person you responded to, mentioned it.

And I agree, YG didnt try with them but I think their new comeback might be something different since they've all gathered individual experiences from their solo activities.

It'll be interesting because it can go three ways:

    1. They stick with the same YG formula.

    2. They try a whole new thing.

    3. They incorporate their preferred artistic directions to the YG formula.

  • No, I almost never complained about their others gigs, they were good, but yge really made 0 effort in their music as in releasing a lot more and they actually releasing a whole full album each just shows how they wanted this!

I hope they try something new, but either way I'll be here for them!

  • I think YGE was perfect for group activities. They knew what image would work for the group and it obviously paid off. I don't think the girls minded having a decent work-life balance instead of having to constantly promote the way other idols do.

If there was anything YGE held them back with, it would be the solo projects. YGE definitely wanted to restrict the members to certain concepts, marketing them a specific way. What the members wanted probably didn't align with the company's vision in that regard.

Aside from that, I think the girls were happy with what YGE did for them as a group.

  • How can there be any other answer than "yes"? They have 32 song in 7 years. That's unacceptable.

    *33

  • "musically" yes

    overall - maybe not

they had so many opportunities to partake in various solo activities besides the music and build their image and reputation and careers beyond "blackpink"

the questions isn't just did YGE hold them back but if YGE assisted? helped? made BP release more music then:

    1. would that have been to the detriment of the members individual solo activities?

    2. their mental health?

and that is something one might never be able to truly answer

Naur, the girls complained a lot about the lack of music, if they were truly satisfied they would've renewed with them even solo wise and actually I'm sure they just renewed as a group again bc they didn't want a tiring legal battle over the group rights, etc.

And bfr .. Rosé family was sooo shady towards YGE at one point that it's kinda impossible to think they were happy happy with YGE.

  • Yep, it's just musically.

This whole mental health or even health convo don't make sense anymore seeing how they are eager to promote, how Jisoo is working non stop for months, etc etc etc. They are actually doing so much that now it just looks like YGE really tried the minimum with them.

remember the last time you mentioned something non specifically? lol

well one of the things about kpop groups is comparing them with their peers - not in a my group is better than your group kinda way but to see the differences in output/activities etc etc

and to my knowledge the two "rivals" Twice and RV both had members go on hiatuses because of mental health issues (now one might argue that wasn't necessarily because of being overworked or for "musical" reasons)

again I do not disagree with you in terms of musically holding them back but overall holding them is a more difficult question to answer
