    Gallup needs interest from the General Public.


    Pop/Kpop does not always percolate to them, but largely remains in the active listeners, typically the teenagers, further siloed into fandoms.

    So it is possible for a song to do well on Kpop charts, yet not have impact in general public surveys like Gallup.


    But that alone will not explain this, so the next reason is that "Plot Twist" was boosted artificially on the charts, by HYBE's dirty works department.

    Also Gallup conduct at Certain date so songs releasing on that period will have more chances to chart....afaik love scenario being biggset hit in korea did not make it to the list. Also there is no Fate here ( it ranked high on yearly chart )

    Well that kinds means the song doesn't have the longevity to last throughout the year doesn't it?


    Day6 Happy was released in March.


    Heya was released in April.


    Hype Boy was released years ago


    Day6 You Were Beautiful (She was pretty) was released in 2017.


    So if the song is popular but didn't make it would mean it didn't actually make a huge impact throughout the entire year even until year end doesn't it?

    Well Gallup make a ranking based on age too

    And even among teenager 13-18 yo ppl

    Plot twist doesn't appear


    So it means that even among teenager ( that you said are the active listener of kpop) plot twist doesn't even rank in the top 10 of the most popular song of the year even with their ranking in the kpop charts

    Fate is much bigger song than Heya though(It still appears higher on Melon than Heya), so I don’t know why it didn’t appear here.
