• I dont understand why people get happy about their faves getting number ones with a ton of versions from their albums, even more, when they lacks streams to support it, at the end the real relevance is nearly zero...for me, its something degrading to get things like that.

Part of the blame is from the industry, for allowing these practices.

  • if a person sells one widget to one person that's one sale

if a person sells one widget to a million people that's a million sales

if a person sells 10 widgets to a million people - hire that bloody person

  • if a person sells one widget to one person that's one sale

if a person sells one widget to a million people that's a million sales

if a person sells 10 widgets to a million people - hire that bloody person

OBviously its a business practice, they get a ton of money more, but it should not be used to get number ones, before, the standard 4 versions for every group it was the common practice, what we are seeing now, its ridiculous...just to look like your group have morr relevance than what they actually have..

The same than k- awards counting yt views generated by ads...

then if it's a business practice and fans have the choice of buying one or more of an album

isn't up to the individual fan to determine how many albums and how many versions they wish to buy

does that not show that certain groups are therefore more successful in marketing (or parasocial relationshipness) to convince fans to buy more

and thus that group that can sell more albums (even if there is more versions of said album) > groups that sell less

because ultimately kpop at the end of the day is a business and no company is in kpop to make a loss (hell I'd even go as far to say no company is in kpop for the "art" - the idols themselves maybe some of them but certainly not the conpanies behind them)

  • But i am not talking about the business side of kpop, i am talking about the moral side of the fandom..if you want to spend all your savings buying + 15 versions of the same album just to make your faves look like the are power houses, its up to you.

But personally, i dont understand getting happy or even brave about getting "titles" , when you get them like that...

  • Maybe the album is pretty?

    Who u referring to though?

IT was food for thought, there are many groups that i know that do that, i checked the dark side of twitter last night after a long time( i just stay in my corner with my people talking about my faves) and what i saw was ridiculous, just to assure that i was not getting ahead with my prejudiced mind, i double checked versions, streams and all that to know if my thoughts were legit, efectively , i was not wrong, ton of versions, mediocre streams, amd rabid fans celebrating idk what, because this for me, its laughlable.

  • I’d prefer to have a bigger fandom instead of public interest. Public interest can disappear anytime, but fandom doesn’t, and fandom power will purchase much more than Public. So both artists and companies make more money. Also, if you are saying this about mainstream bgs, they have streaming power in long term especially for bsides. But your observations are somewhat fair. But when it comes to groups that are not mainstream, they desperately need that fandom power to keep them afloat. So I don’t agree with you with this take.

But ton of sales does not equal to a big fandom, when you realease a ton of versions from the same album and others , aside of that, bundles too, you just need a decent side of fandom ....because most of the fans will want all the versions, this happens with all the groups, so obviously, if you have many more versions, you will sell a lot more...idk what groups you are considering mainstreams, aside BTS and BP, i am disconnected from kpop and just follow my faves, what i can tell you is that what i checked yesterday, its not what i call streaming power...

Well K-pop was never mainstream to begin with. I’m talking about how K-pop acts are mainstream within K-pop community.

You are saying like if person does love some fashion brand be it LV or H&M, so they should buy only one piece of cloth from them. If they have money they can buy a lot of clothes. Why am I comparing it to the clothing. Because for people who buy those albums, it became a necessity, and they can’t live without it, thanks to K-pop idols’ fan service and para-social relationships.

Many things are not about morality nowadays, because everybody is materialist and consumerist. You think armies or blinks won’t bulk buy their faves albums? They do, just wait until next when they will return, both blackpink and BTS will have much higher 1st week sales than their peak.

All famdoms do that, i am bts fan and i know that armys do that too, i dont deny it, but in bts case, the maximum versions that they had is 4, and in others just 2, never had bundles either, aside of this, their streaming numbers are almost equal to top western artists, as a group and individuals.

i get botherered with hybe when they release many versions of a single but the thing with them is they are backed up by legit numbers, they dont need those single versions..

As i said, what i am seeing since some time ago, its groups with decent siize fandoms , whose fandoms get brave about getting titles with numbers generated by hyper inflated sales due to the amount of versions

  • it's difficult for me to see what you're so upset about but if you're asking why fans get proud of empty trophies/titles it's because if the group looks popular it can make non-fans more interested

fandoms getting brave or whatnot.. who cares man people are stupid as fuck every fandom has a loud minority of stupid people but they're loud and affect the image of the group/fandom

  • I don't get your point either if you don't care about that stuff who cares what other fandoms do? Yes a.c.e company released a shit ton of remixes over one song on streaming platforms and fans streamed the shit out of it. Yes seventeen releases like a billion copies of their album in several versions. If it's a group I enjoy you bet your ass I'm getting each version because I enjoy collecting them. Yes it's money grabbing and fans eat it up but no one is forcing anyone to buy things. If this gives a group some number 1 spot on melon who cares. Let fans have their moment.

Then you should address that situation to the companies themselves. And why do you think BTS matched streams of western artist or exceeded them? Because their fandom, as any other fandom of kpop act like cults. They stream sh@t out of it even if they like it or not. Also, they have much more cbs compared to western artists, so they can match those streams. I’m not saying that they are not on the level of western artists, I’m saying thanks to armies they are where they are. Do you think when BTS top songs’ streams match western top artists hits match, it means those songs are equally popular? I don’t think so.

If you are talking about bulk buying of album, then please talk about mass streaming and streaming farms
