• It's a variety of things. Some people like to support their favorites and that if their artists win, charts, or streamed well, they feel the relief that the artist is still being loved. Some might like giftings, and the best gifts they can do is $$. Same as if you don't have money and so you support as much as you can: stream. It's a sense of fulfillments. Like one of IVE's song IAM "You are someone's dreams come true", Kim Eana is a genius lyricist!!

The other dark side is, bragging rights. Which I think may be the topic of your anger? My faves won over yours so Im better. It still the self fulfillment through artists, but a more crazier way? You can look at it however you want. The same thing when artists is an ambassador for brand deals, those clothing, purse, wallet, or whatever is advertised, gets sold ASAP. Do people think people buys it because its pretty, or do they think they will look like their idol if they wears it? Very materialistic, but that's how it is.

Food for thought; maybe it's a cultural phenomenon- where comparison between family members, friends, and societal are so apparent and engraved within the lifestyle that 'He has', 'she has', but 'I don't have' kind of mentality. So people feel the need to stan the best to become the best, and compare themselves to the 'not best' and say 'I won'?

Maybe it's a perception thing, where you want the idol to LIKE you, because you're spending so much money. Have you ever noticed that famous celebrities majority of the time getting things FOR FREE, even from random everyday regular folks. Why is that so? They're rich enough, why give free things? Is it because we wanted to look good in their eyes? Is it because we like them so much, or our perception of them are positive to the extend of free gifts?

  • Because, when everyone is doing it, no one is doing it. Being number 1 at album sales when nearly everyone is pumping out multiple album versions is still something. It used to be an Aha moment in the music industry, but now the playing field is so leveled they're now digging a cratter instead.

  • But i am not talking about the business side of kpop, i am talking about the moral side of the fandom..if you want to spend all your savings buying + 15 versions of the same album just to make your faves look like the are power houses, its up to you.

But personally, i dont understand getting happy or even brave about getting "titles" , when you get them like that...

how is morality got to do it? I'm not quite certain of what you mean my friend?

it's one's choice to buy or not to buy no?

and if that increases the overall sales of one's fandom and they are happy about it so be it? I mean people derive happiness from many different things and if their favs sell a shit ton and that makes them happy - good for them?

that's perfectly understandable my friend - if you don't derive happiness from your favs selling a lot of albums I can understand that - but can you not also understand others might feel differently to you?

  • Just say Stray Kids, op, it's obvious you are talking about them :meme-life-support:

But no kpop group are 100% lettuce organic, all numbers from sales to streams to charts are greatly helped by the fandom so versions or not we also have so many top groups and soloists releasing sooo many remixes and versions of their own song of like ONE SONG just to help them chart better on important charts. In the end a win is still a win bc let's not act like physical sales are the only place where fandoms "waste" THEIR OWN money in vain or for bragging rights, we are also seeing it with digital releases too. In the end fandoms will do their best to help their faves and that's what it is.

I don't think this is something super wrong neither it's illegal so let fans enjoy their faves achievements bc every single kpop act relies heavily on their fans and will keep doing so.

Btw this isn't something solely in kpop, all the world is like this.

  • Sexists, xenophobes, zionists, etc. flood the fandoms. But yeah, this damage the moral of the fandoms. Lol
Btw, all came from the same pathetic necessity of feeling special with the achievements of others. They cant do it with their own achievements since they are fucking losers, so they use someone else's accomplisments. Using "real achievements" makes you a little less pathetic. Congrats, i guess.

  • its no about selling a ton of album , its about getting titles like that, to what extend is genuine that happiness?

you streams dont match anywhere near your sales, you already know that amount of sales is because of the 20 versions, they are creating an illusion.

ok, I'll be nice and answer.

Illusion is what they are selling.

    That's it!

    That's the whole business model.

Interesting that in all the posts, this wasn't even mentioned once along with these other things^^

so what it means is that they have a big enough fandom that sells a lot but don't stream...

sales and merch and concerts and streaming and K-charting and I-charting are not codependent things - one can be strong in some areas and not in others

like some idols are better dancers than singers or better at variety content than rapping etc etc

maybe that group (or rather the company behind them) is really good at shelling out albums but the fandom is not good at streaming
