BLACKPINK dominance is crazy!

I know some of you like to act as if they peaked in 2020~2022, but having a look overall they were fantastic since debut!

2016 BP had the biggest kpop female song ww with Boombayah and it was so big that even years later it was one of the most viewed mv in kpop and in 2016 they had two big hits in SK with Whistle and PWF.

2017 they only had a single that again was the biggest k female song ww and one of the biggest in SK.

2018 they had their real breakthrough in the ww market with D4 and again one of the biggest kpop songs in SK with their bside FY also becoming a hit!!

2019 they had KTL, again the biggest k female song ww reaching new peaks in Europe charts and one of the biggest kpop songs in SK.

2020 they had another big big year with the trio HYLT/IC/LSG ww and in SK.

2022 they had yet another incredible year with PV/SD and Typa Girl becoming hits ww and PV/SD still being big in SK.

Solo wise we had

2018 Jennie and her national hit Solo, a big song internationally

2021 Rosé and Lisa having the biggest female songs ww with Money becoming huge huge and OTG doing great numbers in SK

2023 was a surprise for everyone with how dominant and successful Jisoo solo was like she got a huge hit in SK and ww and she became a million seller like she was insane for this. Jennie Y&M did great too reaching 1 on Melon and doing great ww!

2024 we are starting a little late.. but Jennie and Zico spot is a hit in SK with good ww numbers and I'm excited about her first solo solo work outside YGE!! And Lisa that dropped Rockstar just 8 days ago and is already showing immense numbers that no other female act (maybe illit did it, but idk their numbers, sorry) did this year on Spotify and YouTube and she is starting her new solo era too so let's wait and see what 2024 has for BP!

Overall since debut they are the biggest k female act ww and in SK they were always one of the top groups and always stayed on top with others ggs songs! This isn't an easy feat, but I'm proud of them and as now they are starting a new era I'm excited to see what's coming! Hope they stay healthy and give us a lot of good music to enjoy life!

Btw I'm making this thread just to show how great and present they still are in kpop. Idk if they'll ever tour again as a group or cb as a group, but even though YGE sucked managing their music career I'm a happy blink for being with them since 2016 and continuing so!

They were my first ult group alongside with BB so they'll always have a special place in my heart and I'll always be happy to see them achieving their dreams! They still have a lot of things they want to try so to the blinks that are choosing to stay with them! Welcome to our new era!

2019 we can't say it was actually YGE fault tbh, Seungri did that himself with his trash character.... 2022 was still big big, but YGE was desperate to make them tour as they knew they weren't going to renew individually... In the end BP are still giving hits and great numbers.

Boombayah wasn't even their biggest song in debut; it was Whistle. And Whistle wasn't a top 5 girl group song that year, and of the top songs of 2016, it wasn't even top 30.

And if you look at it from a lens of longevity, it doesn't measure up to the biggest hits of the third generation girl groups.

But BLACKPINK did create a huge stir and their debut was an event in itself. That I agree with. The only time I can remember a debut being so sensational and industry changing happened 6 years later.

Internationally Boombayah did better than Whistle. And Whistle and PWF were among the biggest songs in 2016 with others top ggs and their impact was huge.

I never claimed they had the biggest hit, but they were always among the hits.

I think all 4 will keep releasing music bc even Jisoo already said she'll start preparing new music soon and I think Lisa will be the most BP sound out of them, the others will be probably different. Overall I'm excited to see which direction they'll go as soloists.
