Discovery mode is the hardest one to track because it's not in your face but usually, if a song's genre is rock and the autoplay song is Expresso for example, that could be a song on "discovery mode." Also being in discovery mode means the songwriters and producers forfeit royalties to Spotify. So if a song on Billboard's year-end sales doesn't reflect any profits, one can deduce that it went into making the song popular.

  • Spotify is making tons of money on so many ways:

    • Allowing labels and artists paid for ads
    • Artists forfeit part of their royalties for discovery mode
    • Artists and labels fraudulently paying for placements on big playlists

All meanwhile they don't pay enough royalties per stream anyway, is such a damn profitable business model for them, probably the most fraudulently platform ever and we got the machine running for some reason.

That is their business model. Labels can only work with what Spotify gives them. But there was one song three days ago that took it too far where the filtered rate was 84%. :skull:

    Spotify needs a serious overhaul.

What song was that? I saw a very informative thread on twitter explaining so many anomalies, and the discovery mode is so shameless people very fast jump you claiming you got it in autoplay because the algorithm and your tastes.

Not a blonk posting edited pics of the article I just posted in OP. :meme-life-support:

And you are one to talk about Jungkook (you think his antis would not have recorded proof if they had any to discredit him??) when OOTG is on it's 3rd autoplay cycle because The Weekend is obsessed with being the #1 most followed act on Spotify (three separate times where streams and monthly listeners dropped but then start gaining again after 28 days) Now he's back at #1 so he might pause on it while losing money in the process.

  • I don't like this feature and I usually am not the type of person who complains about promotional tactics, like I really don't mind playlisting, for example, because If a consumer follows specific playlists, they already know what they will be exposed to, so It's their own choice.

But Discovery Mode is like the YouTube Ads of Spotify, what everyone criticize and don't take It serious, but at least Youtube is transparent and provides the separated organic data from the general data.

The way labels are so desperate to use this feature, despite the cut in profits proves again and again how Spotify's performance is just a steptone to bigger things and people treat it as the ultimate stage of success.

I'm not the one who came into this thread with blonks screenshots and accusing Jungkook of something the weekend is known for doing. And I have no reason to be butthurt when I know Jennie is irrelevant here and barely charts here on her own. The two other collabs she's had failed to chart and her own solo songs failed to chart.

Blinks like setting up their own favs. :meme-life-support:

  • Apparently op is a stan twitter who's salivating the idea of jennie hot 100 is so irrelevant yet they decided to post nonexistent articles to cope, eventho I posted edited article similar like her own they still don't recognize how it's all just edited. Man it must be hard rofl

They are truly not the brightest. Everyone could see that OOG unlike Seven didn’t perform similarly on AM and Spotify. The audacity of these people.

    Holy shit :skull::skull:

  • We know for a fact western artist have used it.

So are HYBE though. I've actively had to block several of their groups alongside the likes of The Weeknd, Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter.

They come up in my Spotify inspite of never listening to any of those and rarely any similar stuff.

Like when 90% of my Spotify for the last year has been alt, power metal, classic rock, jazz, etc and I'm getting Espresso, Magnetic and several Weeknd songs inspire of not listening to any of those bits of shit I'm questioning if I should just move to YT music since I fucking hate Apple and Spotify selling its batty to the highest bidder and fucking over it's userbase experience is just not working for me...

See, it doesn’t really effect the labels profits - that’s why they love this feature.

It’s the songwriters, composers and music producers who end up paying for it through reduced music royalties. The labels presumably aren’t effected much or they wouldn’t be so keen on implementing the feature.

    lol at community note

  • it is to me because i don't listen to hot100 music. when i listen to older songs, kpop, music in my language, and eurovision it's obvious they didn't end up in my playlist organically. so far i got billie, espresso, ariana grande and some rapper lady

That's why I mentioned listening to a Linkin Park song and the next song on autoplay is Expresso. It's easy to spot in ridiculous situations like that but the best way I've been able to pinpoint it is songs that made no profits in Billboard year end charts. The most relevant and recent one being Cupid.

  • they're doing this with espresso and it's so annoying. i do not like it algorithm. i'm listening to aespa and suddenly espresso is in my queue?

  • I do lol. I have autoplay turned off since it's introduction and only use either my own playlists or fanmade playlists. I get those who want to discover new artists but I don't lol

Unless I discover it thru my favs recommendations or tiktok via twitter.

  • This is literally nothing, I'm crying

~ Retired exol, don't ask me about that group. ~

  • i wanted to listen to it but it's not available in my country. i wanted to give them organic stream but i was denied of that opportunity lol

What is up with that song?! lol unavailable on Spotify and I could only find a guitar tutorial on youtube. It must be buried somewhere between the completely unrelated videos
