I voted MHJ because she was the creative director but without Hybe's money, all these won't come to fruition.
It would but only in Korea. They'd be like RV level.

MHJ contributed more. Past tense, today, Hybe is perfectly capable of copying her successfully enough with Illit and can do the same with a MHJless New Jeans, they lose a lot creatively but in terms of monetary value the loss is much more nebulous. Ador fully independent from Hybe's brand which still includes BTS I cannot say the same about. They'd lose a lot there. Can't imagine shareholders siding with MHJ over Hybe even if the audit comes up with literally nothing at all.
Rollin by Brave Girls showed some years ago that a good song can be ignored even if it's appeal the public taste.
But there is still people thinking BIG4 privilege matter less than song quality. All BIG4 group will be nothing without their company. And maybe your BIG4 idols "music quality" also exists perhaps because the company has the means to pay for the best musicians.
If you asked me this prior to the debut of illit, I might have a different answer but I'llit's success is a prove that hybe can have a successful gg anytime they want. No wonder it's MHJ's creativity that sets newjeans apart from other ggs, but hybe played a big role here by giving them a big audience since debut.

Even though I loved Red Velvet, Newjeans would be more popular. Mhj created a group that both Korean and foreign fans will love. INewjeans would be successful either way. Unfortunately, sometimes groups that fail to achieve success may not be successful even if they are in a big company or invested in. Nmixx is an example of this.
Hybe is the engine behind it all so I voted for them but there's no denying she shaped their image and sound, which has gone on to define girl group pop ever since. I hope whoever takes over makes very careful creative direction choices bc they've got a GREAT thing going that is resonating way beyond traditional kpop borders.
50-50
See StayC, their producer is super famous but they don't have that level of resources
Even if MHJ has the best concept ever without the resources those concepts are worth nothing
NJs might not be as successful without MHJ input to the group, but it would be even more significant if instead they didn't had the resources but had all the concept in the world
IIIIT shows us that MHJ's success is repeatable. That Hybe has the marketing and PR resources to make a similar concept group do just as well or better at debut.
However, there is something to be said for being the trendsetter. It was MHJ's vision that made NJ stand out. However, if she coulda done it on her own, she would have. She obviously needed Hybe millions to conduct all the casting events, to bring in and feed and train her idols, to fund the expensive MVs, produce all the stages for every performance, for outfits and hair and makeup, to hire the music producers and songwriters, etc.
Agreed.
If IIIIT shows its repeatable it also shows that it was the very formula MHJ created that got the success going not the GC they did with LSF or cutesy with Formis or Mature with G-Friend
The best performing song Perfect night by LSF also has the same chill vibes as NJ.
MHJ needed Hybe for success and vice versa.
