Why does it seem like KPop companies have more boy groups than girl groups?
-
-
Maybe because boy groups make more money and have a more loyal fanbase
-
GGs harder to get fandom.
BGs can be nugu and still have good number of fans to survive
-
-
because BGs are more likely to attract and gain (especially female) fans, which then leads the fans to be very likely invest in the group by buying their albums (and merch) which then leads to the groups in getting higher album sales.
-
BG’s bring in more money with less effort.
-
-
-
They wanted more money than quality songs
-
Because its easier, you just need a group of middle attractive east asian men together to gain enough support to sell 50k sales no matter how nugu your company and your group could be... the amount of things a girl group needed to do and achieve to even get 50k sales even in the peak of the fraudulent sales era was crazy

-
Really?
To me, overall, I thought the opposite happened because it seemed like more girl groups debuted over the past however many years.
But, what do I know.

Since when did Kpop companies EVER have more girl groups than boy groups? Throughout the generations, the number of boy groups has always exceeded the number of girl groups. In all the larger companies, with the exception of one-group companies.
In fact, it's only in this generation that JYP Entertainment (who has built a reputation around its' girl groups) finally had equal numbers of active girl groups and boy groups (for brief moment between VCHA and NEXZ). But the other companies still remain boy-group heavy.
Current active JYP groups:
- Males: 2PM, Day6, Stray Kids, Boy Story (China), Xdinary Heroes, NEXZ (Japan)

yup, people keep forgetting 2PM & Day6 exists. Although I'm pretty sure 2PM seems to be getting the JYP version of SM's "not-quite-disbanded-but-not-really-that-active-anymore" philosophy, and this is especially the case after Chansung left the company. Day6 is also on a "break" too. Like bro, I think it's almost been FOUR YEARS since they were last active.
YG has one active bg? Treasure
Don't forget about Winner too. So YG has two boy groups, two girl groups, and one co-ed duo. That's literally almost as equal as possible ngl.

It's possible that this is why there are more boy groups.
