Back when I first got into K-Pop, 2NE1 was literally the only girl group I really cared about, and that was right around the time they dropped I Love You.

That also was the beginning of their hiatus era, with songs breadcrumbed here and there, so I picked a terrible time to start stanning. There wasn't a new album until 2014 (their last one).

But this was also the year YG started teasing "The next 2NE1". My hype was through the roof until the "Will the new YG Girl Group actually debut this year?" Game began, and YG kept making promises about their debut he couldn't keep.

Since 2NE1 wasn't that active, and it seemed like the new YGGG would never debut, I started checking out other girl groups for the first time (other than SNSD, I didn't know any other groups), and in 2014, I fell in love with Mamamoo, and as they say, the rest is history.

Kind of crazy it was 4 years of delays and lineup shuffling before YG finally debuted BlackPink, but everything happens for a reason, I guess.
