Why no mention of F(x)? Im sure they are on the lower end for SM groups, since they are dungeoned as much as YG groups

On side note, im surprised thart Aespa's total songs havent exceed Blackpink's. Usually SM groups release the most albums = more songs. Aespa is another outlier for SM groups.

Fx has around 70-80-ish songs, that still means they have more songs than all YG groups lol

Aside from BB, 2NE1, AKMU and BP, on average YG idols don't have that many hits, especially not recently. At most they do decently.

Good reminder that BB and 2ne1 are thing of the past and disbanded so as of recently hit wise BP has been hard carrying.

It is better to have more comebacks than to have one studio album and do nothing for the rest of the year.

I would always rather take 6 singles and one mini album, than one studio album and call it the day. Regular content will always win in my books >>>>>

I did not go into specifics because my view includes YGE and other “K-Biggies”..but I heard songs from groups who release more and less and both need more polish in their songs..be it beats, vocal melodies, hooks, rhymes, etc.

There is still room for a lot of groups, especially the ones I like, to up their song quality.

Treasure has more songs than Blackpink.

No wonder some loud blinks are pressed about that group.

bts, suju, and twice songs are so many omg, bless their overworked souls

and not bp being a minimalist, even one song will feel like a release of a whole full album

Tbh I don't think YG music quality is above any of these other companies. They all have good and bad songs it is all about preference at the end of the day, but quality over quantity is big bs excuse imo.

I’ve actually shared the specific quality issues I had with YGE releases.

For clarity, I am NOT making this an excuse for any agency. That’s exactly why I wrote SHOULD in the original response. All have space for improvement.

Contrary to that, i prefer a well-planned and promoted full album (like BP's the album & Newjeans' Debut/Get Up). Just do a prerelease single + title track with sufficient quality and promo both.

Having said that, SM is quite terrible with prerelease promo and just like what you said, they prefer the strategy of releasing more albums for physical sales revenue.

Nah, when it comes to that with SM it is quite literally hit or miss. Before SM promos were usually very good, everyone promoted. It is last few years that they suddenly stopped promoting almost everyone and just expected fans to do all the work.

During this year it is hit or miss, I have to say that few groups had quite good promos while others were handled badly. It is how you luck out, I would say, but there is some improvement and hope.

With that being said I don't understand this lack of studio album discussion, especially for SM groups. For example, Red Velvet this year dropped one full studio album with 11 tracks while last year they had 2 mini albums (12 songs) and one Japanese studio album. Since SM doesn't give big albums it is better to ask for more mini albums, you will get more promos and more music. That's what I meant lol

A lot of these totals are wrong. BTS have way less original korean songs, and there's no way the newjeans and lesserafim totals are right, also i'm pretty sure itzy actually has more songs and treasure has less (I checked and they have 31 songs).
