Red Velvet comebacks are always going to be disappointing

  • the album is soo cohesive and good tho. i think it’s important to remember like 90 percent of kpop tts aren’t really music for musics sake, most of them are just there to be epic and cool and memorable to mark the new occasion and show off the idols.

the actual music is in the album and it was just as good as other rv albums for me

  • To be honest I was expecting something a lot creepier so it was disappointing, though the song isnt really bad

True. The chorus made it something different.

And if the MV theme was that they killed a guy in order to escape (their fate?), then I think the direction of the MV could've been done better to blend or juxtapose their bright/nonchalant stance with the eerie/chilling/dark vibe, imo.

While I like the song, I can't escape the feeling that with a few adjustments to the sound and the MV, the effectiveness and impact could've been so much bigger.

It's why when I heard Wendy's solo interpretation of the song, I immediately thought 'oh, this is a different and better way they could've done it!'

  • I’m not fond of the comeback and new album, but I’m not disappointed because these were my expectations. It’s no big deal as there’s still plenty of old RV songs I enjoy in addition to all of the great 4th g groups.

  • To be honest, all the songs they released after Psycho were better than Umpah or Zimzalabim. Maybe Birthday was the weirdest. Even Joy said ''it's okay i guess'' she was showing that she didn't like Birthday. They didn't sing Birthday in Killing Voice. But I liked the songs on the album. I personally loved Chill Kill very much. I don't think this release even their the most distoinjoiced or experimental sound. The album was cohesive and beautiful. I think the albums I was most satisfied with were Chill Kill and Birthday. For example, the bsides of FMR and Quenndom did not appeal to me very much, although there were some that I liked. I think it's normal for some of them to get bored of the group that's been around for 10 years. Personally, I don't get bored, I still want to listen to Red Velvet's songs.

tbh i agree. my sister tried to get me into kpop w red velvet tracks like umpah peekaboo etc… hated all of them. still don’t like them. the music they release now is leagues better

  • :() you didnt like wildside?? i loved it so much!!!! i love almost all red velvet songs but my least favorites are probably like birthday, rbb, and feel my rhythm.

i love red velvet for russian roulette and peak a boo. those are my top songs from them they are just so amazing

wildside actually grew on me, but it's still my least favorite.

russian roulette has always been my #1 :holding-back-tears:

yeah the album is what really did it for me. the songs are all super good and there's a lot of variety that really ties it all together.

  • I lkke when groups try something new all the time but I wish RV or SM were a bit more tactful about it.

Like for example (!!!) after they saw level of success Psycho had they could have explored that kind of genre, music and delivery a bit more and then transitioned into sound like queendom/feel my rhythm more smoothly.

I think it is a waste for RV to have one extremely successful comeback and then mid successful comeback when theh can have hit after hit.

Other than that their concepts and bsides never suffered, everyone agrees overall their discography is good.

I personally wish every comeback could give me Zimzalabim vibes but I am well aware I am an extreme minority 🫸
