It's really obvious something wrong with Big Hit creative team after seeing Taehyung's album that he work with Min Hee Jin

Honestly, its not just in the album design department that BH is failing to be honest... some other decisions are quite... head scratching to be honest.

MHJ and her team were responsible for most of the design awards (8 red dot awards, etc.) won by SM when she was there. And as evidenced by the new RIIZE timeline schedule design, creative teams in the industry continue to be "inspired" by her work.

The reason she left SM was in large part due to burnout because LSM threw every project at her. So after giving the Hybe brand a makeover as Chief Brand Officer and designing the new headquarters, she carved out her own fiefdom within Hybe where she's only obligated to focus on New jeans (and ADOR bg later). V's project is really an exception that the two found interest in pursuing.

The good news is Hybe does have a knowledge sharing system in place to sort of gather market data and best practices across the different labels so they can learn from each other. So at least there's that...

Well, another block. Some people can't live without making a problem out of everything.

I just think BigHit is cheap. Whenever they think they can get away with doing the bare minimum, they do it.

It is refreshing when BTS work outside their usual producers and creative team.

For example, Jungkook worked with a team outside Lumpens for his music video. The mv turned out to be fun and entertaining like a short film.

I see no problem with BTS members looking to work with others outside their normal team. It’s ten years into their careers, they were constantly turning out an incredible volume of music with a set team.

Why not during their solo runs to switch things up and have some fun. Even the Beatles stepped away from The man who absolutely minted their sound to try something different

While I love the aesthetic for V's packaging this time (It fits him perfectly), I also love JITB, Indigo, D-Day and Face's designs a lot. They reflect exactly what individual style each member has. So it's really unfair to credit everything to MHJ. I'll give her credits for the marketing tho because this is not the usual roll-out for BTS releases.

there's nothing wrong, since the beginning bts' creative work based heavily from member's vision of their music. it's known from many interview how bts scraped bighit's initial proposal to match member's artistic ideas. (the most known out there would be suga's daechwita)

I think what V is about to present musically is going to be incredibly ground breaking. His decision to go with a team that can bring his solo effort/vision away from the juggernaut of BTS is a smart decision on his part

Not only they are cheap but they don’t have creative talents. Even MHJ that is often being praised is not impressive, her influences are so obvious (Burton, Sofia Coppola, now Almodovar…) she only shines because the K-pop industry usually produce cheap outdated copies of what you find in the west. She’s not creating anything new.

Calling other members album designs not good isn’t the take I hope you are making?

Album designs very much align with individual members taste. And all of them have been customised beautifully acc to them.

What has MHJ done differently so far?

- showing all the items and designs, no random pcs

- revealing the title tracks on first go

- music videos for all tracks

I’m Jin biased and I say The Astronaut was cheaply made. They gave him a cheap wig and clothes…most of the pictures were cheap looking, the design of the album was cheap. If you compare it to Indigo, you can tell Indigo’s photoshoot was done by a professional fashion photographer (I think it’s the one that keep posting pictures of Joon). I know Jin is a creative person. It’s obvious he was the one wanting the purple and green colors, I can also see what he wanted to achieve with the 2 concepts, wootteo…but it was poorly executed.

That being said, I do agree that I’m not particularly impressed by what I saw from V. I just think BH is cheap and I don’t believe they actually have a real creative team.

Of course you can't expect for them to really do EVERYTHING on their own, it would take a long time until the album is released and quite exhausting. That doesn't mean they can't ads their input if they have the sensitivity/skills for it. Not everyone is good at art, or writing lyrics, or producing.

Indigo's vynil is so pretty that even if you don't like the music it's great to have it hanging in your wall

This to say, it does feel like BH needs some refreshment, indeed.

It was only a single so it's hard to make any conclusions but I think the photoshoot for Seven was really great. Specially the pic where you only have his clothes, it was nice.

But let's hope the cover doesn't have his name only
