I'm not sure what's exactly the argument in the OP, but maybe I missed a former thread that this one built upon: is it about that success with a certain concept will either happen in the West or in South Korea/Asia, but not in both due to cultural differences?
I think that it's commonly known that certain concepts and styles will have a harder time in the West (cute concept) and some will have an easier time (girl crush) - but that's not a 100% black & white situation.
As for TWICE, that's also not a black & white situation: they haven't been charting well on k-charts, but on the other hand their tour numbers (and album sales?) are really good. So in some areas they do very well, and in others less so compared with some other groups.

JYP girl groups exist in a state of schrodinger's success. Depends entirely on whose asking the question.
To any outside person, the stans will exclaim their fine - they're touring! They sell millions of albums! They're fandom is always growing. They're a top group!
But the stans themselves, they'll always complain - wow they keep getting bad songs, wow they are being mismanaged, wow they get no promo, wow JYP are killing them.
They are both simultaneously weak and strong. The contradictions are endless.
