I'm kinda glad BTS didn't receive a Grammy...

  • In my opinion, I am kinda glad they didn't win a Grammy because these men had to release a whole english song in order to get validated! I would've been happy if it was one of their korean songs. Like I enjoyed Dynamite for a bit but deep down for me it felt like it wasn't them.

I knew it would be impossible for them to finally receive a Grammy after all these years of being used as a way to gain views and I know for a fact some of the members knew deep down they wouldn't receive it this time.

Also, it's so annoying how spanish musicians can be acknowledged but many poc don't receive the credits they deserved (like make it make sense how Nicki Minaj never won one?!) I stopped watching it long time ago because it was getting hella boring, many of my favourite artists weren't coming anymore and obviously cuz the award is corrupt. We can see how the Grammy is slowly dying.

I hope BTS stops giving them favours and keeps breaking their own records cuz they don't need that damn trophy to validate how they finally made it because ARMYs and many other people in the world can already see it :borahae:

  • I am assuming you didn't see their reaction or vlive after the grammys.

That's their legit goal and they want to achieve it.

I don't see anything good about being happy about someone not getting something they worked for.

Oh yes I did see it and felt bad cuz they're getting closer little by little but its just exhausting seeing them being played like this. I know the Grammy means a lot for many artists due to exposure etc but during the past few years it hasn't been the same and it's obviously easy to see where their true intentions lies. BTS can keep going and I will always support them since they've been defeating the odds since their debut but there will be moments you gotta open your eyes and see the reality of things.

  • I really don't want BTS to care about Grammys anymore. It's painful to see them disappointed. honestly f*ck Grammys. Just release whatever music you like. It was the public and fans that made what BTS is today. Whether Grammys would actually let them to win, it doesn't matter when you've won hearts for real.

exactly! at the end of the day all that matters is how your music impacted other people's lives.

  • They're artists.. from South Korea.. Grammys have been (and still are, despite everything) one of the biggest music award shows out there so for them it's a goal in their career. They've said multiple times they've dreamt of receiving one and that's all that should matter to a fan- who cares what you (speaking generally for any fan) thinks of this? It's what they personally want, and as a fan, you should support that.

I understand feeling like they don't need it, or the validation, but that still doesn't change what I said above. As for Dynamite- they literally pulled out all stops for this and made it in English so the recording academy would have no excuse, and they didn't. That just shows even more how unfair the night played out. Adding that to them using the boys as a mere tool for views and hype around the show while not even giving them a proper introduction and pushing their performance back?

So being "glad" they didn't win- after years of them working so hard and rightfully deserving it- not cool. They know the impact their music has, and they know their fans will be behind them 100% percent; that doesn't negate their dream to receive an award. They literally said in their reaction video that they'd try next year.

Still doesnt justify being glad about them not winning.

I said "kinda" which for me meant half-half since there was obviously those issues you stated plus my idea that made it slightly positive in my eyes. They can totally keep releasing amazing music in order to one day get that Grammy since it is pretty much an end game/ jackpot for many artists to receive til this day. If it takes all this sacrifice and going towards a sound that caters to the Grammy values in order to receive it one day than we'll obviously keep moving forward with it. The more I started to know about these award shows, I ended up realizing how they are not as important as it seems to be. Well I digress but, I guess I wouldn't harbor the same feelings as them since I'm just a normal person.

  • "To be glad seeing someone's dream has not come true"- are you a human being?

The medium they choose to fulfill their dream is solely their decision. Shouldn't it be?

Like, you think someone should become Doctor cause you think it will suit his personality & it will be benevolent. But he wants to be Engineer. And you are happy that he couldn't be an Engineer cause you wanted him to be a doctor.

Seeing this AKP, I came to know one prominent aspect of human nature. People tends to become more focused on other's unachievement rather than own & other's achievement. Yuck.

  • Look guys, I don’t think that the OP is glad (happy/joyful) that BTS didn’t win. The OP is not being gleeful about it. It’s more of a consoling glad.. like look at the bright side glad.

So I can see your point of view, OP. Yes it’s better if they win with a Korean song, but the best scenario is that they win with Dynamite this year and then win with a Korean song next year. Of course there will be next year. Mark my words.

  • Dude are you sure you are a fan of them???

How can you be glad BTS didn’t achieve their dreams

Man I guess its hard to explain myself. Don't judge me based this damn opinion saying i'm the type of person who tells people to not follow their dreams and that I'm "not even human". Do I need proof to show that I am an army or something? I have to be completely sad and can't find something that was a bit different than what everyone else thought? BTS probably learned a lot from this experience and might have an idea of what they can do in order to finally get to their goals which I can't wait to see happen! But as a poc I'm tired of seeing people from this group who always gives their 100 but can never reach the top due to so many judgmental factors playing around in the industry. I fricking said I UNDERSTOOD WHY THE DAMN GRAMMYS ARE IMPORTANT TO THEM which I don't judge them for trying to get it BUT for me I don't take it seriously like that cuz I'm not a singer and I know how shady this whole industry is! Bruh like I was the happiest person when they won their BMA and cheered when they came to the Grammys for the first time cuz that's when I knew they were big and had so much to look forward to in the future. Maybe my opinion wasn't perfectly/ nicely/ kindly worded as I wanted it to sound but this is why I'm always nervous to post thoughts that are a bit out of the box (i dont even know if i should call this a controversial topic) in this forum cuz of people judging you based of off something that may sound a bit different than what most people may think.

So you think you have to be an army to show you are happy for them?????

Dude no one cares about you not caring for the Grammys. Most armys don’t care for the scammys either. But it’s their dream. And if they get it we are gonna be happy for them. For you to say you are glad they didn’t get it because you don’t care about it makes you sound heartless

Also it’s not BTS that need to learn or change from this experience, it is the Grammys. They submitted one of their best albums of the year but it was their English single that got the nomination. That xenophobia needs to go
