JYPE broke the routine with debuting itzy before SME had a 4th gen, and its only been 4 years

damn 4th gen is still going strong, we haven't even settled the war between aespa, ive, new jeans, and lesserafim and they wanna start a new generation ? if i see 5th gen idols and they are literal 5th graders i'm gonna have to check out

We don’t have a top BG from 4th gen and I don’t think we ever will. I mean having an actual hit Korean song. Not just charting marginally well.

If the new boys planet BG is successful ofc people are gonna call it a new gen. It would be first new BG hit in a long time and that would mark a shift and actually would deserve being called a new gen.

Unlike 4th gen when fans arbitrarily decided to start a new gen 💀

It feels like such a short while ago when people started debating whether or not 4th gen had started and where the cut off was between 4th gen and 3rd gen:

Was it (G)I-dle?

Was it Stray Kids?

Or Ateez?

Or Itzy?

I think Itzy was universally agreed upon to be 4th gen, but when exactly did it start?

3rd gen is still going strong, not just 4th gen. BTS as individual members are breaking records left and right. Blackpink is setting higher standards for GGs, and seventeen are the highest selling group.. 4th gen GGs are strong with digital streams and selling power though so they are rising fast.

BG charted well with rollin and chimat baram. Now they redebute under Warner. Maybe they will lead the 5th gen Boy groups. 😅

5th Gen is just Mnet trying to be special, it’s still 4th Gen as far as I’m aware. Other than Mnet, no one is really considering ZB1 5th generation, unless their debut can shift the vibe the way early 3rd/ 4th generation groups did.
