Korean government's Hallyu Survey 2023 results are out. BTS lead with 31.3%, number 1 for a 5th year in a row while on hiatus!!!! An increase from 26.7% in the past year showing increasing popularity

a 20% gap between #1 and #2... and this is already in bts' hiatus, right?

also, if i understand correctly... bts are leading in every country (with a big margin) except for China - color me schocked - and malaysia, where they are #2?

Man the fact that BTS went from 10.3 to 31.3 in 5 years is amazing.

All I can see is only BTS are increasing while the overall popularity for others is decreasing

Interesting info, thanks for that. I didn't know they (the Korean government?) did sortlike international surveys from time to time.

It's also heartwarming to see that SNSD are still getting mentioned in a lot of other countries' Top 5, after so many years and so many other groups and gens have risen and made their mark

Hallyu is consumed by all kinds of people so this survey shouldn’t be limited to a certain group of Hallyu fans since a wider group also consumers Hallyu even if casually. There is nothing disingenuous about it. Besides everyone should understand that survey is just a snapshot in time.

I still doubt their methodology as I don think PSY would rank very high for most people familiar with kpop music in 2022. Though I dont think their numbers are so off that it means much about BTS's popularity. Just some of the results are a little weird but others expected.

I dont think these surveys can be too applicable to the entire country their numbers represent. It's to all encompassing in my opinion.

why do these MEDIA outlets KEEP lying to the PUBLIC! it should be common knowledge that the REAL superstar of the west is NOT BTS but AESPA, who have already WON best new artist at the GRAMMYs...TWICE........ They keep paying these people to come on here and sit and LIE about BTS's power in the west when we clearly know that they are nobodies in america. the real leader of kpop is Aespa and we all should know this by now. it is getting out of hand now! this propaganda is not okay and we need to stop letting these media outlets lie to our faces. we know BTS are struggling financially and they have not had a comeback in a long time. nobody in the U.S knows bts! stop this madness. stop it. just sickening. help us twice. help us.
