NOT HAVING A KOREAN SONG FOR ROSIE IS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY...

  • Nah not really. Music is music irrespective of the language. Do people honestly think they would like the song better if it had been sung in a different language?

Rosé grew up with English and she's more comfortable singing in English. Echoing a user above just let her be

I didnt mention these songs to be in Korean... I mean a Korean song should have been on the album... 2 songs "album" was a sham lol, they should have given her more songs... she is the main vocal for a reason... going after a market is something the company has to think for her... She can take her music in any direction she likes but somethings are a clear advantage... this is where the company can go a longer mile...

Every release has a strategy no matter what is said to us... this was her debut and after a wait of 2 years... they should have given her more

  • being an album they had opportunity to put a korean song in it... not every decision in by the idol and not every decision by idol is the right one... maybe they didn't want to give her more songs and which imo was a wrong move... she could have shown off more skill

Even with more Songs, I think OTG would have been the title regardless.

You read the lyrics? She probably wanted to release a Song that expresses her inner thoughts the best, instead of a Song that would be more public friendly. Artistic freedom also means risking that not everyone will like it. She said she feels more comfortable in english so I respect her decision.

Different people look for different things... Her voice was so loved in Korea when BP were introduced in 2016... It was a missed opportunity and that is all I'm saying...

It's the no. Of opportunities BP girls gets vs the others... so much of wait and just 2 songs and God knows how long it's going to take before she gets to release more solo songs... Wanting another song isn't a bad thing at all...

At the end of the day it's just YG limiting them... Im so proud of her work and the fact that she contributed to songs and showed more of her personal side but there is nothing wrong in wanting more from her because I see lot of potential in her...

  • As a non fan, I think her voice sounds better when she sings in English so I think she made the right decision. But I understand that fans might have wanted a Korean song.

I actually think its the opposite, in korean her voice sounds better while in english she can sound pitchy as hell sometimes

  • Missed opportunity where?

Hmm ok, but in the OP you said it was a missed opportunity because it was in english, now you complain about the the whole solo project as a whole, which can be a topic for another Thread. I was just referring to what you said in the OP.

It’s ok if you don’t like it, you don’t need to like every release of your faves.

But i personally don’t see it as missed opportunity to showcase her potential, it depends on how you view it. The Song was pretty personal and here i see that she was able to showcase her potential in writing personal and meaningful lyrics. It’s not just about the vocals. If you were expecting a Song full of powerful vocals, I can understand why you felt disappointed with what you got and think her potential got wasted.

  • Well it was never really meant for the korean market. Western songwriters/producers, all english song, 12am EST drop. They were targeting the Hot 100, not korean charts

  • You think charts are more important than an artist expressing herself in the manner she finds most comfortable, after all she is a english native no? born in New Zealand, not only that but korean charts specifically, since in no way would korean help her chart in western charts

hmm maybe I didn't explain it well... She should have had atleast one Korean song (either replacement of OTG or plus one)...

If self written lyrics would instantly make the best songs then the other fandom going after Blackpink for "not writing their stuff" are easily validated... I dont think that way. I think a lot of things have to come together for great songs...

Having said that I really like the lyrics of OTG... Yes she made it more personal and the lyrics are really nice but still isn't the best song to showcase her potential and I don't think it's wrong to feel that way...

    I'll drop this here...

I don't specifically care for either but I'd say both are important...

It's not even a critique against her skill or performance so I don't understand why it's so difficult to see from other people's view...
