This is an unpopular opinion, because I feel like the popular narrative is that women in their twenties like NewJeans for their nostalgic concept, while aespa's concept is supposed to be all futuristic because of their metaverse storyline.
Maybe it's because I didn't grow up in SK, or the US (which mostly inspired these trends I think) or because my experience with friendships was far from great during that age, but as a woman in her late twenties, NewJeans' concept just doesn't feel nostalgic to me at all. I don't dislike it, it seems fun (obligatory "except MHJ being a creep" caveat, of course) and a little retro, but I don't really feel like I am part of the target audience.
On the other hand, aespa's concept reminds me a lot of tv shows I watched when I was a child/ in my early teens; personally, the first one that comes to mind is Winx Club. Like, the whole thing with two separate worlds, a group of girls with alter egos fighting evil, each one having a unique power, etc. is basically a magical girl story, except this one is more about technology than magic, of course. And I used to love watching shows like that lol
