I think we're all forgetting how NewJeans came out of nowhere. No members were well-known pre-debut, there weren't any teasers leading up to their debut, and ADOR didn't even hint when their debut was coming to build hype. Attention was dropped straight out of the blue. Even other girl groups that did well with the public at debut like Blackpink and ITZY already had a somewhat established pre-debut fanbase. NewJeans blew up with the GP in the first week of their debut. They are a little behind other big 4th gen groups when it comes to building a fanbase because all the other groups had something pre-debut to help with that. Whether that be appearing on a survival show, members from a survival show, pre-debut trainee videos, etc.
Why are people surprised that NewJeans have more GP support then a huge fanbase when they werent given the time to establish one?

Kpop stans and rushing to form opinions on anything without giving it time to develop (groups, discographies, scandals, etc.) is the norm, unfortunately. NewJeans as a whole is suffering from all 3 due to their age as a group, the members' ages themselves, small number of songs, and Min Heejin being their company's CEO.

Also plenty of examples from like the last 3 years went from nothing to exploded over night. April was literally dead in the water before koreans just randomly wanted to listen to that 1 song of theirs. Gfriend went viral and their charting went from nothing to #1s(regardless of how long that boom lasted)
I cannot believe during the same era where physicals have boomed, with multiple groups seeing a massive spike or debuting with big numbers, we're gonna single out NewJeans. Y'all could not be more obvious that ur trembling in fear

Even on the international side, they have a lot of casual fans hence they are charting well. And it wouldn't take that long before the casual stans join the fandom. They sold 800k with their 1st comeback.

Tbh I was crazy tempted to buy the album because of the cute bag. And I’m certainly not a stan. The only thing that stopped me was the expensive postage. I can imagine if I’m in Korea (or somewhere else that sell Kpop albums in stores) and saw the bag CD, I would probably buy it on impulse coz it’s so cute.

they definitely have fandom, 800k sales for both album separately is not coming out of nowhere. They are from hybe, it should tell you smth. Plus they are charting so well, have you seen spotify numbers? They just entered UK official chart (never done before except for 2 groups). Are about to enter hot100 and is this all done by casuals? Then I'm amazed.

They are building a massive fan base now. Sales show that. Gp as well as fans are more into audio streaming. That show their music trumps anything. Hypeboy audio version on YouTube also crossed 100 million. Group have both gp and now fandom too. 😊
Also funny how some people show their fake concern in nj hate thread and dont even leave positive threads too and says hate for them don't exist except few users, When it is everywhere. At this point it is funny🤣 Also big company hype. Every top five company group has it. In end, if music isn't good. People won't listen after initial hype. They have five hits already because their music is good. You all can stay bitter😛
