Haha you’re forgiven.
It’s great isn’t! It’s considered one of the best shoujo animes of all time and it definitely deserves it. Confess I’ve only watched the old version tho, which didn’t have a proper ending. Planning to watch the new but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

How dare you not include the queen, Cowboy Bebop, lol? You've got most of the rest of the classics on there. If you REALLY want to go old school, add Great Teacher Onizuka as well.

My anime list. Well any site that list stuff you've watched. It helps with blind recommendations. Are big series fine or something short?
Some blind recommendations I think not many watched (although they aren't exactly unknown):
- Key the Metal Idol (15 episodes, it's a bit old as it is from mid 90s, but it is an overlooked gem IMO)
- Houseki no Kuni (12 episodes, sorta philosophical fantasy)
- Saiunkoku Monogatari (39 episodes, ancient China sorta historical drama romance with some comedy and fantasy elements)
- Dead Leaves (1 Movie/OVA, if you like FLCL and wanna see something that makes you say WTF I'm watching. Perfect for stoners)
- Kemono no Souja Erin (50 episodes. If you could make Game of Thrones for kids, I guess this is the closest you can get. It's a pretty epic saga which is unexpected as it is a children's series)
- Terra e... (24 episodes, epic space opera)
- Heroic Legend of Arslan (you can watch the TV series from the author of Fullmetal Alchemist which is or the OVAs which are just 6 episodes. Both are decent watches)
- Gaitotsu Shotenin Honda-san (12 shorts, slice-of-life comedy about a bookseller skeleton. It's a pretty relaxing watch)
-
5 cm Per Second is good, as films go.
Anything by Ghibli.
If you haven't watched Grave of the Fireflies yet, run don't walk for your box of tissues because it will quietly WRECK YOUR LIFE, but you NEED to watch it because it's the definition of "great filmmaking". (Fun fact: it came out in a double feature with My Neighbor Totoro, which if you haven't seen, YES ALSO WATCH THAT I CANNOT SCREAM THIS LOUDLY ENOUGH, but which makes it 1/2 of the most bipolar double feature EVER.)

I love my Neighbor Totoro

...because I never watched it. It’s okay, shame me, I deserve it. It’s been on my watch list since I first got into anime but never got around to it.
