Display Moreremember the salary component of a job isn't everything
there's all the other benefits and costs to consider as well
ie. cost benefit analysis
all those other benefits can be calculated in terms of monetary value
let's say the difference is between a 100K job and 80K job (ie. 20%)
maybe the 80K job let's you have more flexibility?? work overall less hours? more paid vacation time - one should factor that into account. Does it have a good retirement? (we call it superannuation in Australia plan), is the medical benefits better? what about the cost of living in new city vs old city? what about the social aspects of the move? is it a bigger city/smaller city? is the environment and overall air/water quality better worse? entertainment wise - is there more nightlife? less? all those things you should weigh up in terms of deciding whether to take the new job or not...
Do you actually think everything can be quantified?
I'm not sure
Maybe there is a way
One thing that is gravitating me toward this position is the fact that it's in a smaller town. I'm hoping that will be alot better for my health in general particularly mental health. I don't want to spend alot of time in transit to work.
In this new job, maximum transit time even with walking will be 30 min. Versus I would have to do 1h driving on 1h30min on public transit.
I guess the time of transit could be counted as money.
