Do you think ITZY vocal ability limits their musical profile?

there are groups worse at vocals than them but still having vocal songs tho

they are best in 4th gen performance for ggs, but there are boygroups who are stronger

I don't think its about vocal ability, because they aren't as bad as people make them to be. I think some members' vocal color does not fit well some genres/singing styles.

I think about this too every time they make a cb, specially MITM which wasn't good to listen, they are good performers, dance great, have charisma, but vocally they aren't good. We can say it's the music choice etc, but that would mean a lot of their tts not being the right choice.

In the end I agree with the take "limits their musical profile". Obviously they aren't super bad, worst thing ever etc, but they are average imo.

If they were better singers it would may people love their music more but it doesn’t limit musically them some groups are worse and when I say worse it’s just tragic but they deliver catchy music. I don’t mind their singing but their rapping Yuna improved imo yeji is doing good but my sis Ryujin I rather her singing it doesn’t suit her at all.

I would add it does limit Lia. She’s a better singer than people think but Itzy’s music doesn’t suit her vocal tone. She has more low registers while their songs are high pitch.

GG vocal production has hit new lows recently. It's not even autotune, it's the fact that the voices are so compressed and EQ'd to sound like trebly chipmunks. I guess it's the only way to let the vocals cut through a really busy/loud instrumental

In some ways yes, in others no. On the one hand, it is true they can't go for more vocally complex songs bc they're weak in vocals but I'd argue it hasn't really been an issue for them.

They're designed as a performance group first, so most of their songs have been designed around being concept and performance heavy. They've shown they can still produce a variety of good music and be successful even with weaker vocals. This is kpop, you can get by with weaker vocals if you can perform.

What's holding them back at this point: JYP and their questionable group direction. 🤦‍♀️ Sneakers was a nice callback to their older style, but Boys Like You makes me question what they're trying to do with this group.

I think JYPES preference of noisy scream singing limits them a lot. I'm not arguing they're great vocalists but they could handle a normalish song.
