This year's bloppiest blop?

  • I feel like we talk a lot about songs that we dislike and songs we love, but not the ones that fell in the middle. The ones we wanted to love, if it wasn't for that one part that brought the whole thing down.

What's the song that was almost, but not quite, there for you?

  • For me Nerdy is closer to Flop

Imo it feels like a song that uses popular and trendy elements, not what the group is good at (singing)

Ha, that's how I feel about memeM. I don't dislike it, but I feel like you could tell me any number of groups released it, and I'd be like "yeah, sounds right."

I also feel that way about ENHYPEN's Pass the Mic, which I liked too, but I don't know that it sounds like a song only they could release.

  • the problem with blop songs is that I forget them

I dont end up remembering them

    Im drawing a blank

  • Every once in a while, they land in my YouTube autoplay rotation and I'm reminded of how they were almost good. It's practically more offensive than just making an outright bad song, lol. Those I remember annoyingly easily.

    youtube only recommends me shinee

  • Some songs I liked at first but didn't like the second time: Lapillus - Gratata, TNX - Move

I don't straight up not remember them but I don't like them that much either

Gratata - The chorus is fine, but I feel like it drags too much in the last minute/30 seconds specifically (feels boring at the bridge and dance break)

Move - I really like the lyrics but the chorus doesn't have power and starts feeling basic starting from the second time you listen. Again I really liked it on first impression, but when I was watching it live at the Fact music awards, I just realized it really lacks impact, it's relaxed.

  • ok Ryewook's bllue bird I guess

The instrumental is very laid back so I expected him to pop off on vocals

but they were also laid back so it didnt stick with me although its not a bad song

Yes, I agree memeM lacks the individuality of PK. I totally hated it at first (partially cause of the MV's lack of expensiveness), and found Nerdy ok at first.

Nowadays, I like memeM slightly more because it's more musically interesting. It also seems waaay more related to Purple Kiss than Nerdy. So I rate memeM Blop

    Nerdy Flop-leaning Blop

Edit: Actually no. memeM is Flop-leaning Blop (just listened again)

  • miraes drip n drop

Fell on the blop side i like it but like its not memorable. But i dont hate it

    Same with p1harmonys recent song

My opinion of Drip N' Drop:

Preview/teaser impression: Drip and drop, and drip and drop,

    and drip and drop,

    and drip and drop,

    and drip and drop....

    (singing it because it's catchy)

Listening to the full song: Ok, the "drip and drop" isn't that great of a hook

Now: I feel like the entire song basically doesn't exist except for the chorus, but that's the natural drawback of a catchy chorus I guess.

In relation to the thread question I would place it closer to Flop than Blop, because that's where I would place all the songs that have an OK chorus but rest of the song feels nonexistent.

  • Your edit is killing me. :smirks2:

It's weird but catchy and no other GG release (besides maybe SNSD, EXID, Youha, Yena and Nayeon's solo) catched me really this year and this song is somewhere in between not liking it and maybe giving it a go

    A.C.E | ATEEZ | DRIPPIN| MCND | NU'EST | ONF | SF9 | Stray Kids | TFN

  • You're so precise, I'm getting a kick out of it. :cutes:

My favorite part of Nerdy is when Swan sings "Who are you?" That part really reminds me of Zombie and bringing in that kind of creepy cute flavor. But Zombie remains peak PK, imo.

That's fair. There are parts where I feel like Hit Ya is on its way to being a bop and parts where I'm like wtf.
