  • Hmm...and people still think Kakao privilege doesn't exist? When your label is owned by the Korean equivalent of Facetime/Whatsapp/Spotify all jammed into one huge company, you are not drifting in some rando Nugu Creek, you are playing around in the Grand Rapids.

Well remember that KPOP companies which Kakao own/co-owns are relatively small/new. What kind of advantage they would have? 1theK youtube channel? But that is same for JYP, SM, HYBE etc. all those have youtube channels with big number of subscribers.

Starship for sure is the one which has amazing 2022 with all their groups breaking their own sales records, and with IVE hitting it daebak and becoming 1M sellers so early in their career (KAKAO owns 70% of Starship according to Wikipedia).

There of course also own EDAM which has superstar IU but then queen of charts herself said she doesn't have plans to release new music anytime soon.

KAKAO CEO had plans to go all in into KAKAO Entertainment in 2021, but suddenly in same time SK National Assembly raised a questioning about Kakao using their power to monopoly a taxi, food, and even flower delivery services. So KAKAO CEO needed to give public apology, and overall it felt like Korean government wanted to show a man that he needs to do what they want.

Since then we didn't hear anything about such plans, Only business wise decision was an acquisition of Antenna, which was overall struggling financially in terms that their soloists couldn't bring sales, and didn't even chart well. And Kakao wouldn't buy Antenna... but Yoo Jaesuk didn't want to sign direct deal with Kakao, he wanted to be in 'his friends Yoo Hee Yeol's agency' which later led Kakao to buying Antenna stocks.

And technically if you look at line up you can say that for now Antenna stands out through two variety show stars Jaesuk and Mijoo.

If you add HighUp and IST Entertainment and sum up all those sub-labels then yeah you can tell they would be that 5th Big Agency.

But the thing is each of those labels have own CEO's, own directors, own creative/marketing teams, and the only place where you see Kakao logo is information about albums distributor.

But then for example YG Plus logo also is on albums from this or that company because they do same thing
