Trolls and drama keep the forums alive

  • its true, ya'll know it. Trolls, as long as they don't break the akp rules, keep the forums active. People say they don't like drama or don't want to participate, but the truth is that those threads get the most replies and views. So these two sentiments, they are not adding up.

The really nice and drama free users, well no one actually knows them because they don't get attention lol.

  • I don't agree. I've never liked trolls and some of their threads are not even interesting or amusing. What should be keeping this place going is people being nice and civil to one another but I'm dreaming if I'm expecting that to happen. I have never been a troll or like drama.

Eyy. Well I disagree. Why? Because the activity of the forum shows that trolls and drama get the most traffic.

I know you don't go in or participate in drama, but the vast majority of users tend to.

Like OP said, drama and trollng is driving a huge chunk of traffic, whether you like it or not.

I've been here 6 years and I've seen so many trolls get banned on here and they've come back again with a different guise. I personally don't see how being hateful and perpetually negative can be beneficial for any online forum. People are attracted to those people surprisingly but I think they're stupid and I'm entitled to feel that way. The same goes for drama, I don't see how some could find that entertaining also. Some are easily amused it seems.

Eyy well I'm not saying its good or that you should find it entertaining. Simply from the perspective of keeping the forum alive, trolls and drama do the vast majority of that job.

Well you can think what you what and I will think what I want. They don't bring anything real positive to this place so maybe I don't belong. Besides, I've just finished a 4 hour shift and am a bit brain dead so can't be arsed to argue the point.

You aren't actually disagreeing with her.....

  • @Nobody2222 keeps the forum alive! I don't think they're a troll, though. Stan Hani, everyone.

Troll or not, the truth is that different personalities are a good mix as long as rules aren't broken. Some people like Pepsi. Some people like Coke. Some people like Diet Coke. Some people like Zero Coke. It's actually called Coke Zero, but NMIXX made "Zero Coke" sound catchy. Anyway, the point is that there's different Coke for different folks!

different cokes for different folks :teeheek:

  • I am actually if you read what I said. I don't like trolls okay? Please get off my back about it, plus I rest my case. :pepe-bonk:

eyy, my argument isn't that I like trolls lol. It's that trolls keep the forums alive. So we aren't disgareeing. :finger-heart:

  • Notice how the threads with arguments or controversial OPs get a lot pages? Even in thise comments are people just akorn farming. People are attracted to dramaand thise threads always seem to do better. Appreciation threads on average get like three pages but arguments can get like nine to twelve on average.

  • eyy, my argument isn't that I like trolls lol. It's that trolls keep the forums alive. So we aren't disgareeing. :finger-heart:

We are if I'm saying that they spread negativity and hatefulness so therefore I am not agreeing with you and as most of trolls end up on my block list anyway I will rest my case. I'm not agreeing with you, how about you do you, I'll do me. As I said, I am tired from a 4 hour shift at work and cannot be bothered to go on with this so please do me a kind favour and drop it.

true. I make plenty of appreciation threads, but only my hot takes get more than 2-3 pages. Otherwise, the threads are short and only get a couple of replies.

  • eyy true. Don't think we are actually disagreeing.

You state that trolls and drama drive a huge amount of traffic to this forum

She says she doesn't like trolls and doesn't find them entertaining.

These two statements aren't related or have a conflict with each other at all :pepe-onions:

I think you're not getting my argument eyy. I agree that they spread hate and negativity, and that's what drives traffic on the forum. Not saying its beneficial or anythingg. I definitely don't think trolling adds value, but they are the threads that get the most replies etc.

eyy, Its all about a dialectical approach. Trolls can be negative and hateful, and STILL drive the traffic on this forum.

It's never all or nothing. :/

But that doesn't necessarily mean I like trolls as I don't and imo they do not have a place on such a platform no matter how popular they are. Will you please please give it up. I am tired from just finishing WORK.

  • While i agree with your OP and some of the replies. Sure drama and trolls bring traffic it does get attention, it does make people come back because everyone gets defensive and before you know it, it's one big crap show. On the other hand, when you deal with it in rl and are constantly around negativity, the last thing you want is to come to a place you consider an escape and see/deal with more. So for me, I do not enjoy the negativity, the drama. Some trolls are funny and I do enjoy the ones that make me laugh. But instead of complaining about it, I just don't read/walk away from stuff. It's less off my back, and less stress to deal with. And if someone is constantly negative, constantly rude, they invented the block button for a reason and I use it.

I personally would love to see some friendly threads where people talk about their faves, introduce others to groups they may not have heard before or know of, or songs that may be forgotten and get brought up and people share sentimental moments about them. things like that would personally interest me and be something enjoyable to discuss.

    Exactly

It's like if someone said, Chicken McNuggets drive the bulk of McDonalds sales (and let's say that's shown true by their sales reports)

and someone said I disagree, I never liked their chicken nuggets

    :pepe-narrow-eyes:

eyy, I just got off work too. Not going to force you to like troll, won't quote you anymore then.

  • Nothing much can be done lol. Well, I suppose this is one of those logical fallacies hehe. Just finished a class on debate eyy.

  • I used to do a lot of appreciation threads and those didn’t go anywhere but my one about bgs “masculinizing” gg songs controversy got more than three pages for sure

True. And people/users will come for you if your opinion is different from others. A major reason people don't post their hot takes outside of anons, is because they don't want to disagree or have an unpopular opinion.

I don't know how many people have me blocked lol, but I bet it's more than a few. What's funny tho, is users who block others tend to keep blocking and unblocking to check what the person they blocked is up to. What's the point then lol?

This is definitely a nice sentiment eyy. I do like making positive threads and hyping my faves, they tend not to get many replies but I do that cuz I like it!

Tbh, I don't think I troll, but I def post more controversial threads recently. Some trolls are funny , some arent. I either clown the ones this suck and are rude, or ignore them eyy.

I do like some of your posts i respond in fact, it's refreshing to have some positive things and ways to introduce groups not mostly talked about here and hope that i can form a small fandom or something kind of what i did with up10tion. I find more joy in introducing people to things than negativity.

some people thrive on that negatitivty though and good for them I guess. It's like that one saying "bad publicity is better than no publicity" but you don't have to take part and you don't have to read it. and if you absolutely don't like someone then block them. out of sight out of mind, honestly.

eyy! right on. This reminds me of one of my favorite philosopher's quotes. I know you faced some stuff before on the forums, I'm glad you have such a strong mindset.

People keep things anonymous out of fear, at least as far as I’ve noticed as a secondary reason to what you’ve mentioned already. Whether it be because they have a reputation they need to keep or they don’t want to provoke anyone. I wish that mindset could be changed and we can speak our minds without getting totally chewed out.

I don’t know the number who have me blocked either, I know there’s one for certain though. I agree, there is no sense in blocking someone just to unblock them and reblock them again

  • debatable. i think threads where its users for users to comment is what creates attraction. whenever i make "guess my this" or "comment and i'll give you something" threads i always get a lot of posts. not dramatic or baity at all. ^^

if you're tired you should get some rest :pleading:

let OP have fun in their thread, no harm in that? all of the trolls deserving of a ban are gone, trust me.

I am trying to get some rest but cleaning motel rooms is absolutely exhausting and I just wasn't in the mood to be arguing about it. I am letting them have their thread but I can stick my 2 cents in as well but when I kindly ask enough, that should be heeded.

Girl, I could write you an entire novel on what the hell i've been through since i got into kpop in february of 2020. I honestly don't know how i'm alive...I just no longer care about what people think of me, I have my values, my mindset, and my feelings. I don't expect people to agree, but the opinions that matter to me are the people i talk to on a daily basis who have been there for me through everything.

Trolls, are obviously bored, or people who don't have enough attention at home and they lash out in negative ways because to them, they are getting attention for that moment. Even if it's negative. Or they are simply bored.
