As a fan for 11 years now, I think this year has been a bit bland for K pop, Aespa's comeback wasn't anything spectacular in my opinion considering how long we had to wait for it and BTS had a song and an album, now they're on hiatus for a while and other groups I'm not that interested in. I am a picky listener with discernible tastes and they've been nothing short of disappointing. I think it's the companies, not the groups themselves. I will always say that second gen K pop is still the best. I'm also one of the seniors here that have different tastes to you youngins.

Nothing is wrong with kpop. Wrong are kpop fans who do not appreciate good music. Red velvet came with the album of the year and each song is soty worthy.

We are definitely behind last year's pace of SOTY contenders, at least with respect to title tracks. We only have six so far.
But have you heard this massive bop? Choreo is a bit messy in the verses but is awesome in the chorus and the song is fantastic.

Basically this; Many songs haven't been the best. But I have another point to add:
4th gen boygroups aren't selling well for the gp. It feels empty without fresh male faces imo. I know many people are fine with just one gender being the gp's darlings, but for me I feel like both types of groups should have time in the spotlight.

I don't know too many 4th gen boy groups to start with and even the older gen boy groups are declining.

Agreed, many older boy groups are losing their spark. Not all boygroups, but many.
