Was Lingo a better choice for pre-release promo instead of Life’s too Short?

Yep. They have variety to their catalogue now, so people can't come out and say "Oh Aespa only makes beep boop music", they're showing that they have range. The subject matter is not only relatable to so many people and is quite possibly a reflection of how the girls themselves feel (especially given what happens in SMCU Ep 2), it's also simple, straightforward and it feels good. Plus the MV itself is very dreamy.

But I can't lie, Illusion is my favorite song on the album, and I feel like that one deserves a music video. Maybe when they do the third episode for their SM Culture Universe project, that'll be when they touch on it, given the lyrics. "Episode 3 - Illusion" has a nice ring to it.

I think it's safe to say most would love to have this.

Lingo's not bad,but it sounds like a Red Velvet reject that somehow made its way to an aespa album

LTS is also quite different from their previous stuff,but it fits better since it's more of a generic,light-hearted pop song.

I like Lingo a bit more and it's more exciting as a song, but I get why they chose LTS. The melody of the latter is very strong.

Better question is why SM thought it was good idea for aespa to release two pre-release songs before comeback, they aren't that huge yet to pull off this kind of thing. Lts and illusion took lot attention from the actual title track.

But to answer your question illusion would be enough to release

I didnt dare to say this here, but yea i agree. It seems very out of place in Girls album. Savage was much more cohesive.

But i guess Real world / kwangya concept for this album hinges on LTS (real world) and Girls (kwangya), so they go with these 2
