Yep, this is why i say both peak and longevity matter. Any act with a ginormous fandom can keep their cult fandom favorites on a top 100 or top 200 list for years, racking up Gaon points and ULs.
But whether you can top the charts in terms of ULs and whether you can stay in the top 10 or so for an extended period of time (nowadays i would say the bar is pretty high, more than 15 weeks in the top 10 is the standard), those are the things that can distinguish a true digimon from a pretender.

It never ceases to amaze me how Kpop fans make fun of people for not topping or doing “well” on the Melon chart while simultaneously complaining that Melon is an unreliable chart when their own faves get beaten.

Melon 24 Hits/Daily/Weekly charts are the only charts that matter. The old Melon Realtime and current Melon Top 100 are worthless (this is what you're seeing here).
Just go to the link below for Melon Daily Chart numbers and you'll see that LYW is a nobody in Korea. His highest UL count is 194k, no matter how crazy his fandom zombie streams or downloads, he can never top Melon because his UL numbers are terribad for a "digimon". Everyone made a big stink about him being cheated by LSRFM on Music Bank, but Fearless ended all his songs in terms of ULs. He's like a supercharged BG on steroids.
However, he CAN dominate Gaon because of its emphasis on paid downloads. That's why Gaon Digital Chart is sus, it should be renamed the Gaon Song Revenue Chart, it measures the Korean won earned by a song, not the actual popularity amongst GP. That's why you'll see him randomly hit 50 MILLION Gaon points yet he's nowhere to be found on Melon Top 10 Daily or Weekly charts.
Always trust only Melon Daily/Weekly/24Hits.
He might be fandom driven like most bgs but he's not a nobody lmao gp in korea knows him, trot is a national genre and he's one of the most popular singers, he gets high ratings, views on naver, cfs, etc that's already more than bgs. The fact his reach isn't limited to young people but older woman, families and kids tol makes him a bigger name than all the non-top groups. There might be some ggs charting higher but koreans know LYW more than any of the members of said groups. If he's a nobody then all our faves are complete flops and nugus
