In the midst of an uproar over a series of shootings in the United States, 10-year-old kid told a friend that he had bought a gun.

Upon notice, the friend called the police and the boy was arrested (turned out to be a joke).

The child's father is pleading for mercy claiming he is a 10-year-old boy who doesn't know anything

The child's father is an Iraq war veteran who actually keeps a gun at home.

Even though he was only 10 years old, the police handcuffed him and punished him severely.

Child is in juvenile detention center and is still detained after two weeks

The treatment is too harsh for a 10-year-old vs The matter is too serious to be taken lightly

    1. Of course his friend will never know if he was joking or not. When I look at the gun related criminals in that country, there's no distinction between kids and adults

    2. This country is becoming insane because of guns

    3. I know that US takes "words" really seriously and makes you accountable for what you sayㅇㅇ Even at school, if kids are playing and they say "I'll kill you", the kid could be called to the principal's office, disciplined and even the police gets involved. You can't joke around a criminal offence

    4. Why should kids suffer from the mistakes of their society? They should just ban all gunsㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Just looking at his texts, you can tell he's pretending to be tough, but I can understand that US takes stuff like that very seriously. Sigh

    5. I can understand that you need to treat issues like that seriously but this was still too harsh

    6. What's scary is that I was walking in the streets and got shot by kids with their bb gunsㅡㅡ But to them, this could mean life ammunition

    7. But this makes you wonder if that country allows 10 years old to own gunsㄷㄷ

    8. You don't have to imprison him, I bet just making him do detention for a week, he'll know never to joke around this again...

    9. The greatest irony is that they're unable to have gun control but they're lashing out on a 10 years oldㅋ

    10. How do you know he wasn't joke?ㅋㅋㅋ If he gets punished, I bet he won't do it again

  • well whilst everyone else is focusing on the criminal responsibility of a 10 year old

I'm focusing on the fact that (if true) a F****** 10 year bought a gun

    what a fabulous system!!!

  • Im wondering when this had anything to do with kpop and Korea. Maybe all kpop should be renamed to CNN because there's waaay toi many unrelated posts and threads on the site

I saw a vid on twitter from a gym teacher in a rough area of US

Every 13, 14 year old had one in their bag

It looked like a fuxking dystopia

  • With all the shootings that have been happening, i don't think this is a harsh punishment. It is time to take these things seriously.

I was watching a video from the Youtube Channel called Coffeehouse Crime about a dude that was having mental breakdowns his parents knew and called the police but the police couldn't do anything because he did meet the criteria to be in a mental institution and he was over 18 so the parents couldn't forcefully put him in a mental facility. The dude had delusion and later went on a highway opposite traffic at over 100miles/hr and ended up killing two innocent people.

Every time my younger sister is going to her high school i just keep praying that no school shooting occurs. Because everyone has guns and you have to protect yourself, I got one too. The state of the US regarding guns is really sad.

  • well after experiencing juvie he'll probably never do something this stupid again I hope. 2 weeks while 10 damn.

In the United States, they could actually deliver on that "joke." That's why it's taken seriously.

John Oliver did a piece last week about school resource officers and how there's evidence that their presence actually increases the deadliness of school shootings. If you're determined to do a school shooting and you know there's going to be police there, you bring more guns, not less.

    let's be friends

    This

I get the knee jerk reaction people have about banning guns but everyone keeps ignoring the elephant in the room. The USA has a societal people problem not a gun problem. Most of the gun control people chant about already exists background checks required to purchase? Check ✔️ waiting periods for purchase? Check ✔️ federal background checks that prevents felons ex felons and mentally ill people from buying them? Check ✔️ all of these laws are already on the books and been there for decades and are enforced religiously.

But everytime there's a shooting its the gun's fault not person behind it🤡. Ignoring these fucking elephants the dysfunctional society and that CRIMINALS DON'T OBEY GUN LAWS!!

There are also other nations besides the USA that has gun ownership and wow they don't have mass shootings or ridiculously high gun violence or violent crime in general. But that shit is rampant in the USA obviously something is horribly wrong there and that won't get fixed id people keep scapegoating other shit instead of what's truly responsible for all of those issues.

Then we look at some countries that have gun bans yet still have high crime and gun crime example Brazil its so bad that its a meme if you see two people on a bike it means robbery and the sad part is the accuracy is damn near 100% so again if bans are the answer then why does that country have insane crime and the criminals always have a gun anyway? Gee looks like criminals don't obey laws crazy eh😂?
