the one kpop beauty standard that confuses the fuck out of me

  • facial leanness is considered attractive across the world especially as a sign of maturity cause humans naturally lose facial fat with age and thats a biological process we dont control

kpop idols meanwhile debut with really lean and defined faces and as they get older they drop more and more weight to be skinny while getting surgeries to make their faces bigger rounder and fleshier

    this just blows my mind

unless they have a specific genetic that makes their aging the literal opposite of the rest of the entire human population, it is clearly a beauty preference they force on themselves, probably to look younger but it has an uncanny effect imo

is this to counter aging? Which not only goes against the common theme of self love in kpop, it also simply doesnt work cause the skin sags just as much it would naturally, except with extra mass on it

  • except biologically, squishy cheeks will go away with age ( tehre are exceptions of course ) unless you get really fat

Interesting... I didn't know that. We'll im sure when you're really old it'll go away but I'd always assumed if you have squishy cheeks in your teens, you'd have it at least until 30-40 and by then nobody is really judging you based on beauty standards

  • I'd say this is not only common practice in the Korean industry.

Lots of western celebs get these procedures as well when they grow older, and more and more 'common folk' do as well.

It's a global 'obsession' to look young forever, even though aging is a natural process.

if you keep getting fat, then yes you can maintain it

but it will never ever look the same as it did in your teen years cause the skin elasticity will degrade

cause you know, every cell in our body slowly gets damaged and degrades over time

Tbh, it's an obsession I can never understand. I'm happy to be and look older and I wouldn't want to be 25 again. You can't hold back father time forever.

ive found leaner faces to be the preferences in most cultures and media, esp cause it looks better on camera
