[Exclusive] Min Hee-jin Faces Risk of Losing Her Home… 100 Million KRW Seizure Against Former Employee Who Exposed Sexual Harassment

Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin’s residence has been seized, putting her at risk of losing her home.

According to Ten Asia on the 11th, Min received a court notice in September for the provisional seizure of her house in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul, for 100 million KRW (approximately $75,000).

Ten Asia exclusively confirmed that the claimant is former ADOR employee A, who filed a lawsuit against Min in August at the Seoul Mapo Police Station, alleging defamation and violation of the Personal Information Protection Act. A also reported Min and ADOR Deputy CEO B to the Seoul Western District Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, accusing them of unfair labor practices and misconduct.

The seizure is a subsequent measure following A’s 100 million KRW civil lawsuit against Min for defamation through false information. A legal source told Ten Asia, "A is pursuing a civil damages lawsuit against Min Hee-jin, and asset seizure was necessary to ensure payment."

Provisional seizure is a legal procedure in which a creditor temporarily seizes a debtor's assets to secure debt repayment. A appears to have taken this step to facilitate the future legal process for damages. If Min is found liable in the civil suit, she must pay the damages; if she cannot, the seized property could be subject to actual disposal.

Previously, A created a stir by claiming sexual harassment by Deputy CEO B. A alleged that during their time at ADOR, they experienced sexual harassment from B and that Min attempted to cover it up in B’s favor. A also alleged ongoing defamation and further harm as the disclosure unfolded, which led to legal action.

According to the property registry, Min purchased the small apartment in Yeonnam-dong in 2011 for 387 million KRW (approximately $290,000).

On September 27, during the "2024 Hyundai Card Da Vinci Motel" event, Min mentioned having property while discussing the lawsuit with HYBE. She stated, "The legal fees amount to 2.3 billion KRW. Because of this, I may have to sell my home. I even thought I must have kept this house for a reason. If I didn't have the money, I couldn’t fight. I’m grateful not to have a husband or children, and I’m grateful that my parents are well."

The legal community believes these comments may have served as grounds for the seizure. Since she herself mentioned the potential need to sell her home for legal fees, it likely met the conditions for seizure. A primary requirement for provisional seizure is the concern that a debtor may dispose of assets, making it difficult for a creditor to recover damages if they win a later judgment.

[Exclusive] NewJeans vs. ILLIT Plagiarism Dispute… Project Plans, Three Years Apart, Show ‘Similarity’

Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin's claim that the HYBE subsidiary Belift Lab's new girl group, ILLIT, plagiarized NewJeans has sparked controversy, with Belift Lab's project proposal for ILLIT showing considerable resemblance to the original NewJeans plan.

On the 11th, The Hankyoreh obtained and compared Belift Lab's "New Girl Group Project Proposal" (ILLIT proposal) with the "2021 Team Launch Strategy" (NewJeans proposal), revealing numerous similarities in document design and strategy. The design similarities are particularly striking, with both documents appearing to use similar fonts and layouts, as if from the same template, and both frequently using circular graphic elements. The NewJeans proposal was reportedly personally designed and written by Min in May 2020 while she was HYBE's Chief Brand Officer, using the presentation program Keynote. Upon investigating whether HYBE uses a standard template across all labels, it was found that each label employs different templates.

The two projects also share identical guiding principles: "a sense of similarity" and "aspiration." To achieve these, NewJeans emphasized "teen influencers" as a strategy, while ILLIT used "creators" as a keyword. Essentially, "influencer" and "creator" convey the same concept, and both proposals cite American YouTuber Emma Chamberlain as an example. Additionally, both suggest using short-form video content and practical merchandise tailored to mainstream lifestyle.

An industry insider commented, “It seems they replaced 'influencer' with 'creator' to avoid plagiarism accusations, but it’s essentially the same strategy.”

What’s noteworthy is that the NewJeans document was prepared in 2020, while the ILLIT document is from 2023. Given the rapid shifts in the K-pop market, with changes often occurring in just a few months, some argue that the three-year gap between these documents makes the similarities difficult to justify. Another industry professional involved in girl group planning remarked, “It seems that both documents are very similar in terms of market analysis and strategic direction. It’s rare to debut two girl groups using nearly identical planning documents in design, logic, and strategic approach.”

Previously, Min released a recording on October 11 from a whistleblower within HYBE, who claimed that she had shared her NewJeans proposal with Belift Lab. In the recording, Min is heard saying, "I really never imagined they would make it exactly the same." In response, Belift Lab stated, “ILLIT’s branding strategy and concept were finalized and shared internally on July 21, 2023. The so-called 'project proposal' that the whistleblower sent to Belift Lab was received on August 28, 2023, so it couldn’t have influenced ILLIT’s concept due to the timing.” Belift Lab has filed both criminal charges, alleging business interference and defamation, and a civil suit in response to Min’s plagiarism accusations.

HYBE report sparks "exclusion of NewJeans" suspicions... could this hint at a possible "termination of exclusive contract"?

A confidential document from HYBE, filled with “blatant criticism” toward artists from other entertainment companies, included a particularly negative or biased portrayal of one of HYBE's own groups. This document, allegedly sent to certain employees by orders from top management, may impact future actions and potential lawsuits involving the group in question. The controversy, which has become known as “HYBE Gate,” relates to the accusations from NewJeans and ADOR’s former CEO Min Hee-jin, who claimed that HYBE mistreated ADOR and NewJeans.

During the National Assembly's comprehensive audit of cultural affairs on October 24, public suspicion first arose about this internal document from HYBE, sparking speculation that it could become a variable in the legal dispute between HYBE and Min Hee-jin. Between October 25–28 and again on November 1, further revelations from the media and HYBE whistleblowers seemed to confirm Min's claims that NewJeans had suffered actual mistreatment from HYBE.

The document, which surfaced through the audit and press coverage, obscured the names of the groups involved but has since appeared unredacted on online communities and social media. While the document’s explicit criticism of artists from other agencies drew backlash, attention also focused on its uniquely negative assessment of NewJeans, despite the group being a HYBE-affiliated act.

As of November 8, the most notable mentions of NewJeans within HYBE’s report were documented on three occasions: prior to their debut on February 23, 2022, shortly after on July 27, 2022, and once more at an undetermined time. The February 23 report suggested that another girl group under HYBE could “gain synergy from NewJeans,” and the July 27 entry implied that NewJeans' success might inversely benefit this other group’s expansion. According to HYBE, Min Hee-jin requested in early 2023 that HYBE refrain from reviewing (or evaluating) NewJeans content, and later requested complete removal of NewJeans-related content. It appears that the NewJeans mentions were ultimately omitted, and ADOR was removed from receiving the report entirely around that time.

However, the issue continued. Despite HYBE’s claim of honoring Min’s requests, NewJeans was mentioned again in the document, with a markedly negative tone that raised concerns.

The report disclosed between October 25–28 included statements suggesting dissatisfaction with terms like “HYBE’s Newjeans,” “ILLIT,” and “LE SSERAFIM” circulating online, with the report stating, “...If we leave New (NewJeans) out and reorganize, the problem is solved.” The document’s date remains uncertain, but it is thought to coincide with intense criticism within K-pop fandom in May 2023, when the term “HYBE's Newjeans” surfaced and later when ILLIT debuted in March 2024, sparking comparisons with NewJeans.

Since October 29, HYBE’s CEO Lee Jae-sang issued an apology specifically directed at artists from other agencies mentioned in the report, as well as their own artists affected by what the company claimed to be “reverse-baiting” accusations. However, fans pointed out that there was no direct acknowledgment of NewJeans, despite the document's references to "abandoning” the group, which remains unaddressed by HYBE officials. HYBE’s chairman, Bang Si-hyuk, has also refrained from commenting publicly on the issue, inciting additional public backlash.

In light of ongoing management disputes at ADOR, HYBE has publicly claimed it will continue to support NewJeans. But if documents indeed circulated internally that indicate an intent to sideline NewJeans, it could add credibility to Min Hee-jin and NewJeans’ complaints of unfair treatment by HYBE. This could ultimately influence the “trust relationship” between HYBE and NewJeans, raising the possibility that NewJeans may use this as grounds to pursue a lawsuit for termination of their exclusive contract.

ADOR side: "Regretful about Dolphin Kidnappers' Shin Woo-seok's criminal complaint; already filed a complaint over illegal acts" [Official]

The agency ADOR, representing the group NewJeans, has issued an official statement regarding its legal dispute with Shin Woo-seok, director from the content production company Dolphin Kidnappers.

On November 8, ADOR told Newsen, “We hold no personal grievances against director Shin Woo-seok, who has created great works with NewJeans. However, as we cannot overlook actions that breach our contract or infringe upon ADOR's intellectual property, we filed a civil lawsuit around two months ago against Dolphin Kidnappers and director Shin Woo-seok, holding them accountable for contract violations and damages caused by illegal acts.”

They further stated, "It is highly regrettable that director Shin Woo-seok, instead of responding to the civil lawsuit, has filed a baseless criminal complaint against ADOR management."

Previously, on November 4, director Shin filed a defamation complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul against ADOR’s CEO Kim Joo-young and Vice CEO Lee Do-kyung.

Shin Woo-seok directed the music videos for NewJeans' hit songs “Ditto” and “ETA.” He subsequently opened the Ban Heesoo channel on December 12, 2022, to share related content with NewJeans fans. Ban Heesoo is a fictional character in the “Ditto” music video, capturing NewJeans members through a camcorder, symbolizing the fandom "Bunnies."

On September 2, Shin Woo-seok mentioned that ADOR's policy appeared to have changed under new management, saying, “Due to ADOR’s request for deletion, Dolphin Kidnappers can no longer make public any videos, channels, or planned uploads related to NewJeans' MVs that we previously worked on and uploaded.”

Following criticism from fans, ADOR issued a statement on September 3, clarifying, “The director’s cut of the ETA music video posted on Dolphin Kidnappers' channel included edits that had previously raised concerns with an advertiser. It was posted without prior agreement with the advertiser, and we requested that this director’s cut video be removed. However, ADOR never demanded the deletion or halt of uploads for all videos related to NewJeans, nor has ADOR’s channel management policy changed.”

ADOR further asserted that Shin Woo-seok’s claim that ADOR requested the deletion of all NewJeans-related videos was false, adding that they would take measures to have the deleted content uploaded on ADOR’s official channel.

On September 10, Shin Woo-seok responded, “Why change statements and lie instead of simply admitting fault and apologizing? The director’s cut that ADOR highlighted as problematic was actually edited with agreement from three parties, with only minor tagline adjustments requested, and there were no issues with uploading it.”

He also expressed his intent to take legal action, stating, “Let’s proceed to court. Legally, this is said to be an easy case. It seems ADOR’s goal is to delay and avoid public scrutiny. Since they haven’t apologized, we’ll submit or disclose the recordings, emails, and materials we have in due course, and file a defamation complaint against CEO Kim Joo-young and Vice CEO Lee Do-kyung.”

A photo led to widespread criticism across online communities, claiming that a NewJeans fan was threatening LE SSERAFIM. However, today, a Kazuha fan site master clarified that it was actually them in the Min Hee-jin cosplay. They explained that they had attended a NewJeans event earlier and went straight to the LE SSERAFIM event without time to change outfits, causing unintended controversy. They posted, asking people to stop harassing others. The fan site master announced they would temporarily close their account but assured fans they would continue supporting Kazuha.

[Exclusive] Adore Board of Directors Rejects ‘Min Hee-jin’s Appointment Agenda’

The motion to reinstate former Adore CEO Min Hee-jin to her position was rejected by the Adore board of directors. Min Hee-jin’s reinstatement to her position as Adore CEO has fallen through.

On the afternoon of the 30th, the motion to appoint Min Hee-jin as CEO was rejected at the Adore board of directors meeting held at the Hive headquarters. It is interpreted that the rejection of former CEO Min’s appointment as CEO by the Adore board of directors was in accordance with the court’s decision the previous day. On the 29th, the 50th Civil Agreement Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Sang-hoon Kim) ruled to dismiss the injunction case in which former CEO Min requested Hive to appoint her as Adore CEO. Dismissal is the process of ending a lawsuit when the content of the lawsuit does not meet the formal requirements or when the content of the application is deemed unlawful.

The court ruled that former CEO Min’s application for an injunction was unlawful, stating that it had no legal effect. The decision was made based on the judgment that the claim of former CEO Min, who requested the appointment of Ador as CEO, did not meet the minimum requirements for examination. In the case of a dismissal judgment, it is common not to make a judgment on the content of the complaint, but this injunction decision is notable for its detailed description of the grounds for rejecting former CEO Min’s claim. Legal experts interpret this dismissal judgment as containing the meaning of a substantive dismissal.

At the injunction hearing date, former CEO Min’s side stated that the validity of the shareholder agreement was a prerequisite for this case, so the judgment should be included in the decision, but the court did not accept this request.

The court stated that whether the shareholder agreement was legally terminated was a matter to be determined in the main trial currently in progress in court, and that there was controversy over whether the shareholder agreement clause (procure clause) regarding the maintenance of the position of CEO was even valid between Min Hee-jin and Hive, and that at this stage, it was impossible to order the appointment of Min Hee-jin as CEO based on its validity.

The Malaysian Ministry of Health has raised controversy by evaluating Rosé and Bruno Mars' "Apartment," which is gaining worldwide popularity, as "harmful music."

The Malaysian Ministry of Health recently raised the issue through its official SNS account, asking, "Have you heard Rosé and Bruno Mars' "Apartment?"

The Malaysian Ministry of Health pointed out, "The expression 'apartment' is used as a place of temptation in the song, which normalizes behavior that conflicts with the values of Eastern culture."

He added, "What is even more concerning is that this song is frequently used in SNS videos and is permeating our daily lives. In particular, there is a possibility that children will unconsciously sing along to these lyrics."

He also said, "As parents, educators, and members of society, we must be vigilant about indiscriminately accepting the influence of Western culture," and "Of course, there may be various interpretations of this song and opinions of fans in support of it, but it is important to analyze the lyrics and make your own judgment."

Meanwhile, Rosé collaborated with Bruno Mars and released a new song, "Apartment," on the 18th. The song topped Melon's "Top 100" chart, as well as music platforms such as Genie and Flo, with its addictive hook and memorable lyrics. Rosé's first full-length album, "rosie," which will be released on Friday, December 6, includes the new album and pre-released single "APT." and contains a total of 12 tracks, including the title track. Rosé will participate in writing and composing all the songs on this album, telling her own stories more honestly and intimately.

The problematic part excerpted from another article

Health officials specifically took issue with lyrics such as "Kissy face, kissy face, sent to your phone but I'm tryna kiss your lips for real" and "Turn this apatue into a club, I'm talkin' drink, dance, smoke, freak, party all night."

"[Exclusive] ‘Bullying within HYBE involving NewJeans’ case submitted to ‘Music Industry Report’"

A report titled 'Music Industry Report,' written by HYBE, has been submitted as reference material regarding the alleged bullying case within HYBE involving the group NewJeans.

It was confirmed on the 28th that person A, who filed a complaint against HYBE regarding "workplace bullying against NewJeans by their manager," submitted parts of the 'Music Industry Report,' a recently released report for HYBE executives, to the Seoul Western District Office of Employment and Labor on the 25th, where the case is being investigated.

Person A is not related to HYBE, NewJeans, or Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of ADOR. The 'Music Industry Report' that A submitted as reference material is a partial version of the original report that was recently disclosed on online communities. The document has been criticized for containing evaluations that degrade the appearance of idols from several entertainment agencies. It has been confirmed that the report also contains content related to NewJeans.

In an additional petition that person A submitted, they stated, "The ‘HYBE 2023 Sustainability Management Report’ clearly mentions that ‘HYBE adheres to labor laws, the Labor Standards Act, and other relevant laws to respect the human rights of its members, and in cases of human rights violations, there is a channel to report such incidents, and HYBE strives for the swift handling of the issues and prevention of recurrence.’" They continued, "The report states that when human rights violations occur, the case should be investigated and appropriate actions should be taken, and it specifically lists ‘workplace bullying’ as a category for human rights-related reports."

They added, "The content of the recently released internal report from HYBE, titled 'Music Industry Report,' clearly demonstrates that the 'Code of Conduct for Respect' mentioned by ADOR CEO Kim Ju-young is not being followed at all. Therefore, it is necessary for the Ministry of Employment and Labor to thoroughly investigate the background and specific details of how this document was created."

Furthermore, person A emphasized, "The 'NewJeans workplace bullying case' is not just a problem for one particular group; it symbolically highlights the issue of workers who fall outside the protection of labor laws. As such, I strongly urge the Ministry of Employment and Labor, as the relevant authority, to thoroughly investigate this case and come up with special measures to address the gaps in the current system."

The Seoul Western District Office of Employment and Labor, after reviewing the materials, is expected to use the information as a reference in their investigation into the "workplace bullying by NewJeans' manager."

Previously, on the 12th of last month, person A filed a complaint through the national petition platform, requesting that the “bullying allegations within HYBE involving NewJeans be thoroughly investigated.”

The complaint was submitted following a revelation on a YouTube live broadcast on the 11th, where NewJeans members shared that they greeted another celebrity and their manager in the hallway of the HYBE building, but the manager allegedly told them, “Ignore them.”

NewJeans member Hanni appeared as a witness on the 15th at a National Assembly audit session of the Central Labor Commission under the Environment and Labor Committee. She claimed that HYBE, the parent company, was downplaying and concealing the incident.

In response, CEO Kim Ju-young stated, "We will listen more closely to the voices of artists, including Hanni, and ensure their human rights are protected so that they can fully pursue their dreams and hopes. Please give us a little more time, and we will create a better company."

HYBE announced that they directly communicated the similarity issue (NewJeans' Bubble Gum plagiarism) via email.

They initially caused damage to NewJeans' group reputation with the unjust plagiarism controversy, but at some point, they stopped mentioning the 'Bubble Gum' plagiarism for no reason.

Now, Oscar Bell, who participated in writing and composing the song, is involved in Jin's solo album.

"According to Ador, after the 'Bubble Gum' music video was released, they received an email from HYBE on May 20, which contained a similarity issue raised by Edition Korea, the Korean representative of Wise Music Group, the agency for Shakatak. In response, Ador stated on May 21 that the composers of 'Bubble Gum' had never heard of 'Easier Said Than Done,' which was claimed to be plagiarized from Shakatak before they raised the issue, and that they had not used Shakatak's composition without permission. Considering that they were in a dispute with HYBE as of May 13, they decided to preemptively consult two prominent foreign musicologists for a professional analysis to prepare for the possibility that the situation could be misrepresented."

Mentioning the dating rumors of a member from the HYBE group ○○○, it proposed a marketing direction, stating, "Membership is such a large part of the team's value that the extreme need for ○○○ (member name) to leave isn't mainstream opinion," but noted, "However, since this incident is clearly hurtful from the fandom’s perspective, there needs to be some kind of ‘catalyst’ for fans to pretend to move on."

In addition, there was a mention of the online community's trends concerning the re-signing issues of its own group ○○○○○ and the responses to each member. They noted, "Recently, the ○○○○○ fandom has many internal issues festering, and since it’s difficult to point out the causes within the team immediately, they are likely to vent their frustrations against the company for a while." They added, "The recent demands for lawsuits related to ○○ (online community name) likely stem from this flow of reaction."

Regarding another member, ○○, it stated, "The internal exposure regarding the ○○ fanatic was trying hard to gain a justification for public discourse, but since the target of the attack is ultimately ○○○○○'s internal matters, it hasn’t expanded significantly. However, within the ○○○○○ fandom, there seems to have been a certain resolve to vent their frustrations this time, as a fan sent a truck protest to HYBE."

HYBE clarified that the report in question is 'monitoring data,' not 'HYBE's opinion.'

Earlier, Kim Tae-ho, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of HYBE and CEO of Belift Lab, stated, "It is true that the document was created internally at HYBE, but it contains simple monitoring data, not HYBE's opinions," and added, "We recognize that this report is inappropriate and will strive to ensure that such issues do not recur."

HYBE also issued a separate statement saying, "The report contains content that an entertainment company should heed, including positive evaluations from fans," and that "we will hold accountable those who leaked parts of the report that only include provocative content, making it appear as if HYBE produced materials criticizing artists."

HYBE faced criticism from members of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee for expressing a stance on 'identifying informants' during the National Assembly audit and later retracted that statement. CEO Kim stated, "We will not identify the informants."

However, contrary to HYBE's stance, there is a heated debate about whether the content of the report is merely 'simple monitoring communication' or 'expression of opinion.' Additionally, representatives from entertainment agencies mentioned in the report have expressed direct anger.

Attorney Jeong Jong-eon from the law firm Jeongseong stated, "In particular, the content includes derogatory expressions and false facts regarding specific idols from other major companies, which could fall under defamation or slander." He further added, "While it is claimed to be simply for internal reporting to executives, we cannot exclude the possibility that employees other than executives at HYBE accessed the leaked materials."

"HYBE Executive’s ‘Report’ Causes Widespread Industry Impact… Is it an ‘Opinion’ or ‘Transmission’? [Exclusive Report]"

The entertainment agency HYBE's 'Music Industry Report' created for executive viewing is causing industry-wide ripples.

This document, created within HYBE, was first revealed during the comprehensive audit of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee on the 24th.

The document, which has been further obtained, includes content that bluntly evaluates the appearances of not only HYBE's idols but also those from other entertainment agencies. Additionally, it includes mentions of personal controversies, public opinion on online communities, and viral marketing opinions.

This report, which is circulated weekly, was distributed by A, a former music critic and now the editor-in-chief of Weverse Magazine, which is published by HYBE's subsidiary, Weverse Company. It was sent via email to HYBE executives, including Chairman Bang Si-hyuk.

According to portions of the original 'Music Industry Report' obtained by this media outlet, the document contains information not only about major agencies like SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment but also about numerous idols from other entertainment agencies like Cube Entertainment and Starship Entertainment.

According to a HYBE official, the most problematic part of this report, which contains unedited portions of the original document, is the evaluation of idols' physical appearances.

Regarding an idol from a small entertainment agency, it said, "None of the members have notable features, and it genuinely looks like they are performing at a middle school talent show," adding, "The other members are shockingly unattractive. The reason they haven't become popular is very clear."

Regarding another idol who appeared on an entertainment program, it said, "The synergy of unattractiveness is at a level that is unbearable."

About the debut of a new girl group from SM Entertainment, it said, "Surprisingly, none of them are pretty." It also referenced a group from YG Entertainment, stating, "I wondered if their trainee infrastructure was worse than this group’s, but when I remember how shocked everyone was by their appearance when group ○○○ debuted, it makes me wonder if SM’s aesthetic sense has fundamentally changed."

Regarding a former JYP Entertainment idol member, it commented, "They’ve undergone so much plastic surgery that they are almost unrecognizable. It’s clear that they've been exposed to environments for a long time where it's hard to mentally defend against concerns about their appearance and sexual appeal."

This content was also criticized during the National Assembly's audit on the 24th. Min Hyung-bae, a representative from the Democratic Party, stated, "This is problematic because these evaluations involve minors," adding, "The report contains dehumanizing perceptions and attitudes toward idols." Yoo In-chon, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, who was present, said, "I believe the expressions and assessments are excessive."

The report directly mentioned personal controversies, lack of talent, and other issues not only about HYBE's idols but also those from other entertainment agencies.

Regarding the North American tour of a YG Entertainment group, it stated, "The group's rise began at Coachella, and it seems they are preparing a similar strategy for Europe." It also noted, "There was fraudulent voting in the ○○○ (an award ceremony), and most of the fraudulent votes went to ○○○○. This might be due to the involvement of ○○'s overseas fandom."

Regarding SM Entertainment's ○○○ member ○○, the report also conveyed information on the agency's actions. It said, "It seems there has definitely been some sort of change recently, whether they've increased their monitoring staff or changed their feedback system." It continued, "It seems like SM, which used to be a 'master of ignoring' ('먹금' meaning to ignore malicious comments or issues), has now decided they can't continue like this. Recently, the reaction toward ○○ has been particularly negative, but just then, ○○ anonymously donated 10 million won to an animal rescue organization."

Regarding ○○'s donation, it said, "The fact that it wasn't just any organization, but specifically an animal rescue group, feels like an extremely Twitter-friendly choice." It added, "The fact that exactly 10 million won was donated is also suspiciously convenient. Apparently, once the donation reaches 10 million won, donor verification processes are required, so it can't be completely anonymous. It seems like they've quickly picked up on issues trending on Twitter and responded excessively. This might even suggest that their usual strategy is starting to waver."

Additionally, in response to fellow member ○○○ appearing on a variety show, it said, "○○○ buying a watermelon on the way home, carrying it with exaggerated effort, then clumsily making punch and eating it—all of that seemed absurdly staged." It also criticized, saying, "The scene where a staff member suddenly brought up ○○'s donation to an animal shelter while doing their makeup, emphasizing the heartwarming story, was overly cheesy."

Regarding another member, ○○, it commented, "There's been talk that while they go around hyping things up everywhere, they're actually just texting on their phone the whole time. There's even gossip that they were messaging their boyfriend during filming."

Regarding the Cube Entertainment group (○○)○○○, it stated, "They wrote vertical letters on the members' faces as if tattooing them with thick lines, and even the company told them to take photocard pictures with that makeup on." It continued, "(○○)○○○'s success can be attributed to the will of ○○○ (member name) and the other members, while it seems the company still doesn't know what this team is doing, based on certain episodes."

Additionally, it noted, "Without properly managing the team's vision, the song '○○' became a hit, but the underlying problems remained unresolved and festered internally, creating an atmosphere that feels like a thorn lodged in a crisis situation. That said, it’s unlikely that ○○○ resolved its own contradictions smoothly in this album."

About the group ○○○○○ from a small agency, it mentioned, "They released a dance practice video for the song ‘○○,’ which features all 16 members. At some point, they completely abandoned the exploratory approach of the 'original Gangbuk ○○○ (HYBE group)' and instead adopted a general show and late Japanese idol vibe, especially evident in this dance practice video." It added, "This song has been promoted as a ‘super large’ performance since the overseas tour began, but it seems that merely having a lot of members doesn’t necessarily mean it's super large. The choreography is quite clumsy, and it’s difficult to see the members' styling or practice state as anything above a university club level."

It also reported reactions regarding the Starship Entertainment group ○○○. The report stated, "Particularly, ○○○'s performance has suddenly soared, leading many to question the actual popularity of the team. There are also quite a few attempts to cast a negative image around ○○○ (member name), making it a risky situation for them to show swagger too hastily."

Alongside that, it noted, "Considering the controversy around the perceived reactions to ‘○○○ ○○’ (song title) stems from the temperature difference between those in their early twenties and those over thirty, it's possible that elementary school students might respond favorably to ○○○, but whether that qualifies as a ‘mass phenomenon’ could raise suspicions about intentional viral marketing."

It also referred to a story about its own group member ○○ attending another affiliated singer ○○'s concert, saying, "This time, they went too confidently, which seems to have led to the trolls being surprisingly quiet." It further commented, "The dating rumors surrounding ○ (member name) might actually give other members more freedom in their personal lives," adding, "If there's a real relationship, there’s no reason for the ○○ delusion to be taken seriously."

Moreover, while analyzing the trends on online communities and social media, the report identified viral marketing points related to its own idols. This was primarily limited to the group affiliated with the company.

Regarding the initial performance of the HYBE group ○○○○, it stated, "With the girl group’s initial sales now at a million copies, it might be necessary to categorize ○○○○ (YG Entertainment) - ○○○○ (HYBE) - ○○○ (SM Entertainment) - ○○○ (Starship Entertainment) differently from the fourth-generation narrative." It added, "'○○○' was something we struggled with for days, but it could just be a matter of abandoning 'New' and setting up a new board."

It also said, "During ○○○'s (SM Entertainment) comeback week, it will be important for ○○○○ (HYBE) to control interesting and cute issues to keep coming out," suggesting, "Even if it’s trivial, it’s good to keep conveying a desire to share and empathize with fans."

After news broke that the members of girl group New Jeans were pushed out of the top 100 in this month's brand reputation, a re-examination revealed that New Jeans members Minji and Hani were ranked in the top 10.

On the 28th, the Asia Brand Research Institute, a big data evaluation agency, announced that Ive's Jang Won-young was selected as the top 10 girl group individual in the 'K-Brand Index'.

The K-Brand Index is a big data analysis system that the Asia Brand Research Institute developed in collaboration with domestic and international researchers. Unlike the existing indiscriminate collation method, it is conducted through verification by a field-specific advisory committee from candidate sample extraction to index selection.

In particular, the K-Brand Index girl group individual category applied the same criteria as the girl group individual brand reputation announced by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute on the 20th.

This K-Brand Index girl group individual category analyzed 174,588,173 online big data from September 20, 2024 to October 20, 2024, targeting a total of 35 people, including 5 members of New Jeans, in the top 30 selected by Brand Reputation.

In the K-Brand Index girl group individual category, Ive's Jang Won-young took 1st place, while Blackpink's Jennie (2nd), Espa's Karina (3rd), Ive's Ahn Yu-jin (4th), Le Seraphim's Kim Chae-won (5th), New Jeans' Minzy (6th), Blackpink's Rosé (7th), Espa's Winter (8th), Kiss of Life's Natty (9th), and New Jeans' Hani (10th) took the honor of being in the TOP 10.

Ryu Won-seon, head of the research center at the Asia Brand Research Institute, explained, “This K-Brand Index girl group individual category was promoted in response to strong requests from idol fan club members after the announcement of the brand reputation on the 20th. Our big data analysis system takes at least 48 hours, so we focused on the reliability of each index. We were especially careful because subjective factors could cause serious problems with the fairness of the analyzed big data.”

In addition, “New Jeans Minji and Hani, who were pushed out of the top 100 in the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute’s brand reputation survey, proved their unwavering presence by rising to the top. Although New Jeans Hani had a high negative index, her positive index was also high, which is interpreted as offsetting the legal dispute issue. The basic principle of big data analysis is that the transparency and objectivity of the evaluation agency are key factors.”

The K-Brand Index is calculated as a combined figure that applies the weight exclusion criteria of the Trend, Media, Positive, Negative, Social, Activation (TA), and Community indices of the relevant sector.

Recently, the K-Brand Index has been verified for its reliability by presenting a comparison ranking of big data related to a survey on six popular culture sectors announced by Korea Gallup.

Meanwhile, detailed information on the individual indices of the girl group individual sector of this K-Brand Index can be found on the Asia Brand Research Institute website.

    Circled part:

This document mentions that 'information about SM's new girl group suddenly started circulating. About eight candidates were narrowed down, and surprisingly, they're not pretty. Considering how everyone was shocked by their looks when OOO debuted, it makes me wonder if SM's aesthetic standards have changed.' It also stated that for a specific SM girl group, the fandom’s defensive logic was that 'the company doesn't let the talented ones shine,' but that was shattered at Coachella, leading to criticisms of their vocal abilities.

"[Exclusive] 'That Fandom, Viral, Women's Communities Untouchable' - A Weekly Report Strategy for HYBE Executives"

It was revealed that a report intended for viewing by HYBE executives contained numerous defamatory comments regarding idols from other entertainment agencies. The report also outlined policies for managing and responding to online communities.

The “Weekly Music Industry Report” was written by Editor A, of Weverse Magazine, a subsidiary of HYBE. It included evaluations of online communities, social networking services (SNS), and analyses of issues related to both HYBE and other companies’ idols, organized in a report format.

The report was formatted as an informational briefing and was distributed via email to HYBE executives, including Chairman Bang Si-hyuk.

One notable part of the report is the analysis of fandoms according to each online community and entertainment agency. It mentioned fan-made content related to a group from SM Entertainment, commenting, “This kind of intense involvement, like a pseudo-romantic form of fan activity, seems outdated. This is the essence of the SM fandom that remains in such old practices,” and added, “Their outdated worldview is clearly reflected in how they treat other members and teams, which is why they’re labeled with derogatory terms like ‘that fandom."

It also reported, “There have been claims that staff from ○○○○ frequented certain women-centered online cafes like ○○○○○ to maintain fan discipline. The team’s consistent positioning as popular among women in their 20s and 30s owes a lot to the reaction from these women’s communities, and there are assertions that company staff directly intervened.”

The report analyzed that certain negative posts about ○○○○○ led to a situation where “they caused a stir by visiting and making a fuss, and even led the charge in slandering other boy groups, resulting in ○○○○ becoming untouchable in the idol industry, raising questions about how such rumors didn’t spread earlier.”

Regarding a member of a group under JYP Entertainment, the report mentioned, “There have been quite a few posts in male-dominated communities calling the book read by this member a ‘feminist book,’ which is causing quite a stir.” It added, “If the team doesn’t do well, this could be used as a controversy, saying that ○○ is riding the ‘feminist coin’ and trying to bring down the team.”

The report also proposed directions for viral marketing strategies for HYBE’s idols. Referring to a smoking scandal involving a group from another entertainment company, it said, “Already several members from ○○○ have caused controversy for smoking, and it seems like the inability to filter such issues in practice rooms or self-produced content is problematic.”

** It compared this to how a member of HYBE’s group ○○ had been criticized for being caught smoking in a paparazzi shot, even though it was outdoors and in a smoking area, while “the same communities are lenient about indoor smoking scenes in self-produced content of other groups.”**

The report suggested viral promotional content for the reality show featuring a member of HYBE’s group ○○○, noting that “there hasn’t been any notable response yet in domestic communities, but more viral promotional content, whether in the form of YouTube Shorts or blog-style diaries, should be released before it’s too late.”

Regarding another member, ○○, it suggested, “If there are photos where he looks similar to a famous Maltese dog with soot on its face, it could be fun to assign different dog breeds to each member and approach the issue from a women’s community and teenage low-profile angle.”

On the group ○○○○ from HYBE, the report analyzed, “The aspects of appearance, stage presence, skill, and vision still give the impression that it’s not too late to gain new fans, which provides an opportunity to attract domestic interest through viral marketing.”

Regarding the Thai concert of another HYBE group ○○○, it noted, “This is a venue where even top-tier Thai superstars perform, and just having it there should carry viral significance.”

The report also mentioned that a member from HYBE’s group ○○○○○ was criticized in ○○ for a post that went viral, with over 1,000 comments, mostly negative. It analyzed that “the response to ○’s album was lukewarm, so the issue didn’t escalate, but if it had been ○○, it could have been a major controversy.”

A portion of this document was revealed on October 24 by Democratic Party lawmaker Min Hyung-bae during a parliamentary audit of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The report drew public criticism for containing derogatory comments about the appearance and lack of skills of groups from other agencies.

Culture, Sports, and Tourism Minister Yoo In-chon, who observed the situation during the parliamentary audit, remarked, “The expressions used are excessive.”

Kim Tae-ho, Chief Content Officer (CCO) of HYBE and CEO of Belift Lab, who appeared as a witness, acknowledged that “the document was indeed created within HYBE, but it contains simple monitoring data, not HYBE’s official opinion,” and added, “We recognize that the report was inappropriate, and we will strive to prevent such issues from recurring.”

HYBE also released a statement saying, “The report contains important feedback for an entertainment company, including positive evaluations from fans, but only the sensational parts were stitched together to make it appear as if HYBE created a report criticizing artists. We will hold the individuals who leaked this document responsible.”

However, HYBE later retracted this statement after lawmakers questioned its appropriateness during the parliamentary session. Kim apologized, saying, “We issued the statement quickly in response to media inquiries to prevent the spread of incorrect information. It was not meant to show disregard for the National Assembly.”

“For the sake of New Jeansvision”… Will Min Hee-jin be reappointed as Adore CEO? The results of the injunction will be announced as early as today

The injunction hearing filed by former CEO Min Hee-jin of Adore to reappoint herself as CEO of Adore is expected to conclude today (the 25th) at the earliest.

On the 18th of this month, Adore held a temporary shareholders’ meeting and passed an agenda to reappoint former CEO Min as an inside director. It is reported that there were no other agenda items at the temporary shareholders’ meeting that day. Former CEO Min’s term as an inside director was until the 1st of next month.

On the 13th of last month, former CEO Min filed an injunction with the court to reappoint herself as an inside director and then as CEO. The decision on whether the injunction will be accepted is expected to be made around the 25th or 26th of this month. In response, Adore announced on the 25th of the same month that it would extend former CEO Min’s term as an inside director, but that he would not be allowed to return to the CEO position.

Former CEO Min’s side strongly demanded his return to the CEO position, saying, “We are wary that if the term is extended due to a faulty contract, the group New Jeans will not be able to guarantee normal artist activities.” Former CEO Min also filed an injunction with the court, saying that Hive should reappoint him as CEO.

In a recent interview with a Japanese TV program, former CEO Min once again appealed his intention to return as CEO, saying, “There is a process and plan to realize (New Jeans’) vision. In order to proceed according to the plan, production, advance investment, and management must move together.”

In the interview, former CEO Min emphasized, “Contractually, I am neither a producer nor a CEO. It is an ambiguous situation with only the authority of an internal director. The project that I have been working on is still underway. I cannot abandon it. I am working, but the next step is not clear yet, so I want to quickly sort this situation out.”
