After news broke that the members of girl group New Jeans were pushed out of the top 100 in this month's brand reputation, a re-examination revealed that New Jeans members Minji and Hani were ranked in the top 10.
On the 28th, the Asia Brand Research Institute, a big data evaluation agency, announced that Ive's Jang Won-young was selected as the top 10 girl group individual in the 'K-Brand Index'.
The K-Brand Index is a big data analysis system that the Asia Brand Research Institute developed in collaboration with domestic and international researchers. Unlike the existing indiscriminate collation method, it is conducted through verification by a field-specific advisory committee from candidate sample extraction to index selection.
In particular, the K-Brand Index girl group individual category applied the same criteria as the girl group individual brand reputation announced by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute on the 20th.
This K-Brand Index girl group individual category analyzed 174,588,173 online big data from September 20, 2024 to October 20, 2024, targeting a total of 35 people, including 5 members of New Jeans, in the top 30 selected by Brand Reputation.
In the K-Brand Index girl group individual category, Ive's Jang Won-young took 1st place, while Blackpink's Jennie (2nd), Espa's Karina (3rd), Ive's Ahn Yu-jin (4th), Le Seraphim's Kim Chae-won (5th), New Jeans' Minzy (6th), Blackpink's Rosé (7th), Espa's Winter (8th), Kiss of Life's Natty (9th), and New Jeans' Hani (10th) took the honor of being in the TOP 10.
Ryu Won-seon, head of the research center at the Asia Brand Research Institute, explained, “This K-Brand Index girl group individual category was promoted in response to strong requests from idol fan club members after the announcement of the brand reputation on the 20th. Our big data analysis system takes at least 48 hours, so we focused on the reliability of each index. We were especially careful because subjective factors could cause serious problems with the fairness of the analyzed big data.”
In addition, “New Jeans Minji and Hani, who were pushed out of the top 100 in the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute’s brand reputation survey, proved their unwavering presence by rising to the top. Although New Jeans Hani had a high negative index, her positive index was also high, which is interpreted as offsetting the legal dispute issue. The basic principle of big data analysis is that the transparency and objectivity of the evaluation agency are key factors.”
The K-Brand Index is calculated as a combined figure that applies the weight exclusion criteria of the Trend, Media, Positive, Negative, Social, Activation (TA), and Community indices of the relevant sector.
Recently, the K-Brand Index has been verified for its reliability by presenting a comparison ranking of big data related to a survey on six popular culture sectors announced by Korea Gallup.
Meanwhile, detailed information on the individual indices of the girl group individual sector of this K-Brand Index can be found on the Asia Brand Research Institute website.
